Which Squeegee blades?
« on: September 04, 2013, 11:20:19 AM »
What squeegee blades are you using?      What is recommendend for Simulated process?
Is the 3 ply worth the extra cost, I was recommended Serilor 75/90/75 (green/white/green) for Sim Seps.
Do you use different blades for white and coloured plastisol?
Do you sharpen your squeegees?    How often?
I'd like to see some comments on these questions.
Thanks.   :)

I use the 75/90/75 on our auto for just about every type of print I just change my angles and pressure...on some white inks I might use a double bevel squeegee which works great 70 duro I think, and no I don't sharping my blades but I should be to keep them sharp.  I don't think you will find the same answer twice here because every shop has tested and found what works for them and there process which might not work for you...trial and error will help you more than anything.

I would recommend 80 Duro Double Bevel.  $177 an inch from Xenon.  If it is Triples you want than a 70/90/70.  $1.35 an inch from Xenon.  Both blades are Pleiger.  I recommend these as I work for Xenon.

we use a variety of durometers depending on what we are printing.

our standard squeegee is 65/95/75 so we can turn it around if we need something different.
Our whites are exclusively on 55/95/55
we have some single duro 70 for the things that trash the edges (24 mesh for glitter for example).

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

We use Serilor: green/white/green(75-90-75) and red/white/red(65-90-65). We use manual and do the push stroke. Therefore we prefer the 75-90-75 over the 65-90-65.
We do the thumb test to see if we need sharpening.
