Dip Tank -- use distilled water since we're on a well?
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:13:46 PM »
I was reading the 'what makes a dip tank chemicals go bad'  thread and with some of the answers being related to water chemistry, I came up with an idea...

We're going to be mixing up our first batch of dip tank chemicals soon, and we're on a well that definitely has some iron in the water (you can taste it at times if you drink straight from the faucet).

I'm thinking of purchasing the 30 or so gallons of distilled water that I'd need to fill the tank... since distilled water is less than $1 per gallon, even if only doubles the life of the chemicals, I'm still ahead.

Thoughts, ideas, comments?

Thanks!
-J

I'd call it cheap insurance!

RO/DI water around here is like $0.19 a gallon or so...
