Flash Stand

I am thinking about building a stand for the Workhorse Radiant Flash. That way I can get rid of the smaller flash and use the new one on both the auto and manual. Before I tackle the task I was curious what you think the most stable stand any of you have seen is? I was thinking on the head have a pair of clamps like on the Javelin that are connected on top by a 2x3 steel tube. I noticed that Anatol sells a stand for their flash but it is close to $500. My guess is the clamps on it would be on the side since their presses are side clamp.

Any ideas?

could be, i've owned black body and odyssey, they were horrible.  Perhaps the dumbest designs ever.

I actually converted my odyssey into a shuttle flash.  it's sweet.

I have the Workhorse Auto flash. The stand is fine. Why are you having a problem with it?

I bought the new Workhorse Radiant flash for my Javelin and I am considering making a stand to use it with my manual as well.

Admittedly, my "reply" should go in the classified area, but I have a flash stand from Brown that I no longer have a use for and would be willing to sell cheap....I bought it new for $125.

I sprung for the heavy-duty flash stand from Vastex when I bought their flash. Worth the money. Don't know what it costs, but it won't even think about tipping. My flash head is the 18x24. I don't have the motorized unit shown in the picture.

Might be better off for not having the motorized version. Not sure of Vastex, but I know the other
manufacturers that make those are notorious for breaking. Huge side load being shifted with a small
DC motor at the center.


Second for the Odyssey flash stand being the worst design ever. If that effing thing drops the panel one more
time it's getting taken out back and shot.

For a manual printer like me I couldn't see the point of the motor. I place my flash to my right and print the next print while the first is flashing. I'd waste more time putzing around with that pedal.

I just attached my flash to the print head and use it as a shuttle flash.  Works great so far.

You bring up a good point, but hanging a flash off of the V squeegee mount on a Tuf may pose a problem. Not much area to mount to, unlike the choppers on your M&R.

not hard at all, it's all about a building a mount.  I bet I could do it in an afternoon...provided the flashing feature is about the same as M&R
