For Andy (mostly)
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:11:22 AM »
I was bicycling around the Old Village in MP and took a minute to stop and chat with some of the locals, fisherman and crabbers; and suddenly this popped into my head:
"Throw back the little ones, pan fry the big ones, use tact, poise, and reason; then gently squeeze them"
Give Frog a chance to respond with regards to the reference, after all he is on the West Coast.

I will confess to all, as I did to Tony via PM, this one went right past me.

Though I dig Steely Dan, I did not know this song!
I may even have Katy Lied, but if so, got it way after the fact and probably only listened to Black Friday and Doctor Wu.
Never had a tape in the car, (which kinda' forces one to listen to the whole shebang).
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Interestingly, I now see that 'Throw Back the Little Ones" was the B-side of the "Black Friday" single.

Origin of band name
Who briefly played drums for them

Heck, I'm surprised that in the fog that engulfed the scene much of the time in the '60's and '70's, that we could keep some of the names straight when one remembers Steely Dan, Steeleye Span and Stealers Wheel all recordong and performing around the same time!

It's as bad as our industry's IC, ICC, and CCI

As for their short-lived drummer, would that be the same guy who once played trumpet for Paul Simon?

If that was Chevy Chase then you would be correct.
Hint on band name origin: "The Naked Lunch" by William H. Burroughs

And it's use is not polite conversation material.    ;D  (the origin of the band name, that is)

Yes, not polite conversation, unless you're at the AVN Awards...

should I be worried that I knew what AVN is?  ???

pierre
Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!
