Needle bar not engaging
« on: May 22, 2013, 03:07:14 PM »
Hey, it's me again with another emb question

I have a needle that is not engaging on one head when it's supposed to be stitching. The needle in the same position on other heads is working so I know it's only on this head. Trying to figure out why the needle bar won't go down. Any suggestions? My thought is it's that stop thing (Black round thing with a screw on the right) but I don't know what to do to fix it.

This is on a Tajima

No haven't hit a hoop yet. Here's what's weird, all the needles on the other heads will run on 1-6, and 2-5 on head 1 will not run. Then get to 7 needle and head 3 won't run the 7 needle then get to say 9 and it won't run on 2 and 3 head. It's random.

We just reset the needle depth on every single needle bar, and I'm wondering if something got screwed up when she was resetting them.

you have to go in and adjust the upper stop collar on that particular needle bar.
make sure you have a good quality allen wrench (metric) as those buggers are going to be TIGHT.
My guess you have to move the upper stop collar DOWN ever so slightly. make an adjustment then turn your machine over by hand if the needle starts then popps back disengaged you need to go a little more. LOOK at the other needle barstha are working OK that will give you a clue. By the way this is the fatter socket head  screw collar at the very top of the needle bar in question.
REMEMBER mark your starting position so you can go back if you need to...make very small changes and confirm by hand tirning your machine.
I do not know if Tajima has instructions on line but you can go here and get some real good help
