E cigarettes
« on: June 30, 2011, 03:04:57 PM »
Has anyone here given it a whirl yet? I am just wondering tomorrow our tobacco tax goes up another .50 and depending on the brand you smoke some packs will be as high as $10. Thats not only counting all the other new taxes taking effect tomorrow.

Aren't politicians great?  Now I can't fake-bake without paying extra either.

Sonny has an e-pipe.

Hey MK I smoked for 20 yrs and had Phnumonia (?) last year and they found some spots on my lungs and I went for bio. and it was negative but from then on NO MORE SMOKES FOR ME. I had tried many times to quit but that scare did it for me no with-drawels or anything just one of the many blessing from my Lord. You can do it and man do I feel better, never knew they were tearing me down so much. Good Luck :)

I know a couple of guys who smoke 'em and like 'em well enough that they've stuck with them for about a year now. Much cheaper, and they're allowed to "smoke" at their press inside the shop. Less goofing off outside on "trips to the dumpster" to sneak one, so management is happy.

Hey Brad I gave up caffeine several years ago it is amazing the effect caffeine also has on you. Quitting cigs is a huge problem for me and I must do it or suffer greatly some day. These E cigarettes sound intriguing!

Never made it to a pack-a-day habit, but quitting smoking was the best thing I ever did. Use whatever works and be patient with yourself. Cold turkey didn't work for me and it took a while. Had to do it in stages.

First stage is not buying any more cigs. Second stage is bumming smokes from your friends when they smoke or at a party or something. Third stage comes when there's been enough time between cigarettes that the taste and smell become disgusting. Then I just didn't want to any more.

Sounds like e-cigs would be helpful.

My main problem is I have got so used to it in my hand and yes smoking it.

I've been thinking about trying the E

and found this place last time I was looking.

http://nicotinefreecigarettes.com/

don't know anything about them.

Good Luck.

A guy on FB even said he Planned a weekend went cold turkey and beat up his house...but quit.

I did try one when I was a smoker. I was not bad, needs some time for adjusting.
Feels a bit weird because it is a lot heavier than a smoke when holding in your hand and a bit harder to smoke it.

I'm glad I do not have to worry about it, smoke free since 12/19/09.
If you want to smoke, call your state, they might have a program for "quitters" ;).
I got a month supply of patches, and I was ude to receive another month. I have quit smoking and stopped using them after only two weeks.

Good luck

You'd be surprised at how true that is. I smoked a pack and a half a day for 20 years. Met my father in the emergency room with a dose of pneumonia on top of emphysema. The sight of him gasping for breath and begging the doctor to do something was enough for me. I never picked up another one.
When I was in college I'd get up at 6 to drive my Dad to his shop so I had the car for school. I'd only been smoking about 3 years, but I felt a real tightness in my chest on that first full breath in the morning and figured, oh well, that'll be it for the rest of my life. Funny thing is, within a couple of days after quitting at 39, that tightness was completely gone. It's surprising at how quickly nature will attempt to revert back to where it should be, whether it's brush you cut a year earlier or your lungs after you quit.

I quit dipping skoal and copenhagen at the end of my college days by dipping shredded beef jerky.  It wasn't much cheaper by the can per say but it took a few months and I was done with it all together.  I'd put that jerky in my lip just like a nice fatty and leave it there for a while.  My buddies thought I was crazy and that it wouldn't work, but it worked for me.

I smoked a pack and a half for 34 years and smoked my last one on May 16, 2006 at 1:30 PM. I went cold turkey, and to this day I still miss lighting up from time to time. As much as I miss my dear old friend, Marlboro Red, I will NEVER abuse my body like that again. When I quit, I think a pack was about $2.50. I see they are now up to just under $6 a pack in my area.

So if you average the price out to $4 a pack over the last 5 years....
1.5 packs = $6 per day x 1825 days = $10,950 saved, not to mention the clear lungs, free flowing arteries, and fresh smelling home and automobile. 8)

Best of luck to you Inkman!

I have tried everthing!  I'd love to quit and will soon.  There is a new drug Chantex.  I have not taken this, can't, but have talked to many who have had success.  You need a perscription for it, but not hard to get one.
The e cigs, I've tried 2 different ones, were not for me.
On a side note, I'm not promoting smoking, but.
I saw some machines in Florida that roll a carton of cigs in 8 minutes.  I bought one.  Not for personal consumption, we sell tobacco and tubes, customers rent our machine and they pay $27.50 per carton.  tax and everything out the door for $26.50 if you bring by the coupon that was in the paper.  It hit on a Friday and customers rolled 30 cartons on Saturday.
Since we installed the machine and started to promote the business, 134 customers have rolled about 145 cartons.
Habeeb, Auchmed, and "Sam" (how come so many go by Sam? Maybe because they know Mohamad might tick some off)  Are not real happy with our, American made machine, American made tubes, and American made tobacco, we don't have a Western Union connection in the store and we don't send funds overseas!
Sorry for the rant Ink, quit smoking, it's bad for you!

I recently got an e cig and it worked for a week. DO NOT smoke it right after a real cig though. You will feel drunk lol. I quit twice before with chantix. Chantix worked right away for me and I had no cravings. The only reason I started again was being around smokers and I quit for my girlfriend at the time. You have to want to quit. Also if you have a smartphone there is a livestrong quit smoking app that helps you keep track of how many you smoke per day and gives you an outline to quit. I think it's called My Quit Coach.
