This is a revealing look at separating in channels in PhotoShop

Do the math and digital color is math and if the math in your tools or techniques is incorrect your  separations will not be correct. We need mathematically correct industry standards and understanding.

For the record my opinion has nothing to due with these mathematical facts. Every single halftone dot comes from math now days.

I understand the controversy and your position Dan but this not an opinion it is a fact.

So editing my titles Dan will not change the facts.

We have to correct these things for the Industry.

Oh and one more thing.... If you really are an artist these facts and other information we will release soon will set you free not hurt or hinder you. You will come to the place that you can spend more time on the art and less time on seps. And being free from concern about separation we will put every artist and screen printer on this planet in a better position.

Honestly Dan.. You do deserve awards for sepping with all the mathematical problems you were dealing with in those channels. Now lets move beyond all that and open this color thing up for the Industry.

Tom I think it's really good of you to day in and day out..  Put the effort into helping the screen print community try different/new ways of getting an image ready for screen printing.. You give the impression you're in it for the community -betterment-(is that a word?)

Glad to see you brush that dirt off your shoulder..

Thanks StarChild,

There is allot more to come.. We as an industry need to understand why this has been so hard and tricky. Bottom line we are dealing with....

Digital Color notice that the term is very mathematical in nature.. digital.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_theory

Understanding that it is very important we understand what the applications we are working in and or the techniques we are using will apply to our color digitally or mathematically. If colors or shades are being digitally altered then we are going to have a far more difficult time separating colors and making adjustments.

This is the first of several issues we will be exposing about the digital color space and what applications do to color. Once you understand these things then you can make educated decisions about color, applications and how you want to approach color separation.

Look at this.. are the channels a problem?

(LINK REMOVED).

Haha! when that vid was first posted I slowed it down in Premiere and decided- Yea I'm not going to do all that.. Besides a lot of his seps ends up being 12 colors and sometimes 14 colors. And then the shirt sells for the same price as a one color print.

Public YouTube links are censored?  :o

I can't imagine why the link was removed. I checked the youtube link and the comments were not turned off-
So this very same thread could be discussed on MYSeps channel. I would prefer that MySeps sign on and say why
it's beneficial to pay for 12 screens for a shirt design. And the advantages of his technique of sepping.

The last time I experienced this was on the Faux News website.   :D

What's up editor in chief? (Is this your personal opinion?) Or did I miss this in the rules and regulations for posting?

Woosaa! I enjoy this site, so I'll take the good with the editing..

Why should my steps have to come on here and defend his work? why does Tom have to use someone else's hard work to advance his agenda?

I didn't edit it, but can tell you that if it was done by one of my partners, it was done to preserve the "Play nice" and "Friendly" environment we offer here. This is not a bash board.

I consider Tom a Board Bud and Corel Compatriot of the highest order, but let's face it, he can be a baiter and rabble rouser the likes of which are seen rarely seen here since "he who shall not be named" destroyed at least two other forums and inspired our formation with his banishment.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

I have no dog in this fight. MySeps made his video public thus open for critic, debate and comparison. This board and most all forums use comment, post, quote, reply actions for this very reason. A newer sepr would ask  MySeps how and why.. A more experienced user would give his opinion why he shouldn't and all this happens hypothetically on MySeps Youtube channel. If he does not respond we draw our own conclusions.

This isn't YouTube and the forum owners can run it any way they wish, they obviously prefer to not have other people's work used in that type of fashion and I personally do not blame them. This is a great forum where you can feel safe at all times and not have to worry about the type of antics that happens in other social venues.

Ok got it.. The protocol was for Tom to find the thread that was posted here in 2011 and post his comment/opinion there.
Dang I feel like I'm defending Tom and not the fair practice.
The gist was why go through all this to sep an image in channels [link/or 2011 post here] when you can do it a different way.

I remember posting a text around path vid in Illustrator and senior members responding- that is why I don't use Illustrator too much work. Corel is way easier.
Bet let me check that out and see how it's done in Corel. Healthy, constructive criticism.

However I appreciate the fact that board owners don't want anyone to feel alienated when posting. And although Tom's passion goes a bit over the top, he still gets an opportunity to post because it's good stuff all the same.

I did the edit.  Specifically, because this same vid Vrs Toms methods that had been discussed with Tom before (recently) as something we do not want to take part in. So, he knows our stance on this "comparison" postings but I guess he wanted to test the waters on a new day.

If Myseps prefers to and allows Tom or anyone else to use his vid (on here) to do a comparison for or against his methods, then we have no issues with it. We are not censoring anything. You can fly about the net and find it and someone else can discuss comparing.

Without going into detail how, the benefits of doing it manually this way on a 6 color or 12 color can be obvious and is why Mark Coudrey indicated that manual separators will never disappear in this business.  The how's and whys should be discussed by (those in question) and they should be allowed the opportunity to decide if they want to put "a dog in this fight" so to speak.

I choose not to myself but my own seps may be tossed into a comparison unwillingly by forces that I do not control.
