Old gal vs New gal Ink

I just got in a few gals of ink and I notice the size difference, my old gal same height on both but the width on the old gal is much larger, any body else notice this with there ink company or is this just WM plastics.  I can't say for sure if I'm getting less ink, but just looking at the gals I think I am.

I'm almost positive ink gallons are measured by weight, not the actual container, Darryl.  So while one container may look smaller (or you might even get a container that looks not quite full), it is a gallon by weight.

some of those smaller ink companys pour it off by the pound.. so you may see differences in the actual amount.. i hate that ..

Why they call it a Gallon??
Maybe they should sell by a pound?

Darryl:  Screen-printing inks are about the only analog printing inks in the United States that are sold by the gallon in the United States.  I believe that this occurred because many of our manufacturers grew out of the paint and specialty coatings industry.  Flexo, Litho, and Offset inks are all sold by the pound and/or KG.  If someone is telling you a “gallon” then it’s a volumetric measure and one-gallon is exactly what you should get.

 A couple of years ago the Nazdar company changed from selling our graphic screen-printing inks in quarts and moved to a One-Kilogram UM as an International standard.  Initially we had a lot of our customers question the short “quarts” of the heavier products especially the white inks until they realized they were being supplied (and charged) by weight versus a liquid volume measurement.

Bottom line, if you were sold a gallon then the contents of the bucket should absolutely equal one-gallon, and the weight of the ink has nothing to do with it!

Thanks Peter, I was wondering how weight could play a roll being every bucket might be different in some way, but I'm sure I got more ink in the old gallon than this new gallon bucket.
