We have two projects coming up that are some weird blended polyester tee.

Would you use a clear DC ub or a white DC ub to print them? One of the tees is black, one is royal

I would use neither until I tested them. Royal is going to be an issue anyways. Why do you want to discharge them?

whenever we've used poly ink on shirts like this, they come out thick and gross feeling

We do this on all our blends even the dreaded Kelly, Royal, and Purple.. Usually a hybrid base of 70 clear to 30 white. The snap flash eliminates scorching which is a bonus. Better softer print with clean overprint colors. Prints faster, ink way cheaper.

You are welcome sir. Our ink costs will be just over half of last years. Which is a four figure #

turns out this works great on 50/50 or tri blends, but does not work on poly/spandex garments!

yeah, it won't work on poly at all.  What you should be looking at for that is silicon ink.
