Waterbase on 65(poly)/35(cotton) white shirt
« on: March 04, 2013, 02:57:09 PM »
Looking to do a test printing pigmented CCI W-Base on a white 65/35 blend shirt.  Anything to consider in terms of mesh count or problems with waterbase on poly-heavy blends as we have only printed discharge on blends and not straight waterbase.

One member here reported some problems with these as the screens were picking up lint from the shirts and forming some kind of film. Never heard of that but this is screenprinting afterall. With blends its hit or miss. While many Next Level 100% cotton blanks don't work many of their heathers actually do. The canvass charc hthrs work pretty well. When they fal we revert to the DCUB

Straight water base and not discharge? You will be fine. We do it all the time. In my opinion on those types of shirts water base or nothing. Plastisol just does not feel right. Then again that is just me. And the majority of our clients once they make the switch

Did a test with CCI Spot Black and three pigmented W-Base colors on the 65poly/35cotton Delta-Dra shirt.  This was printed with 65/95/65 at 38psi through a 225S mesh.  Washed warm/cold and then dried with normal settings.  Came out fairly well, there is some fibrillation so 180S mesh will be next in the queue.

Yep. And if I had to use a shirt for the paper it would be a Delta. About all they are good for...... :o
