Funny stuff, but he did in fact, teach me almost everything I know about printing . You taught me the rest!

Something completely new and different for us.

4cp on a white base. Dan did the seps for us since I really have no clue how to add a correct white under base for this.

All five screens 305's 60dpi, no flash all wet on wet. Back pic sux it looks a lot better in person. Black is normal black with a tiny bit of reducer in it.

BTW Dan as you can see they completely changed all the art work and added a front, the original had a call out coming out the cherubs butt saying "You bet your ..." guess that wasnt going to be cool.

Did we flash that base or do it wet on wet? I forget what we talked about. Colors are awesome. That NEWMAN'S type is awesome.

You are corrrect Dan nailing a big solid area with 4cp is not always easy. I find you have to make absolute sure every single dot resolved if not then you start getting splotchy areas that look like doodoo, in the case of NEWMANS it resolved perfectly but what you can't see Dan is I taped off the tiny bit of black you had in it, it was not needed and made the green a bit darker than needed.

Like I said I am not at all used to 4cp on a base not even 4cp on whites really and shooting these screens showed me something I never noticed before. I use an exposure calculator from Mcdermid and it has halftones at 65lpi on it. from 10% to 90%. I burned the calculator on the first few screens and the screens were easily holding all those dots, but the films for the 4cp were losing a lot of the same dots, what this is telling me is my films are not printing well enough for that kind of detail. I adjusted times to get better dots but I know to be serious about it I need to do like Pierre and dial in the RIP. Dont remotely have a clue on how to do this but I guess its winter better now than later.

Just finished a 9 color sim/spot process on safety yellow shirts.  This setup was about 20 minutes, then another 10 minutes fine tuning things I was very happy with how it turned out.  With exposure, setup, print and teardown we had about 2 hours invested in this job, I was expecting to have a lot more in it but things went smoothly.  I was worried about getting their logo colors right but we hit it with the first set of inks we put in.  We were matching a picture of another shirt and it was more abstract/hyper (that's what the customer called it) than trying to copy a photo of a construction site which helped us.  It turned out really close to the E-proof and I'm glad to have this one past us.  I was really worried that this was going to be a PITA because of the 9 colors on a 10 color auto, customer press proof, and all the other things that can go wrong on a job like this.

Yeah, we have an in-house artist.  He's a valuable piece of our operation.  This type of stuff isn't his strong suit but the more we do these types of jobs the better he's getting.  Every tough job we do we learn more and this one was actually a breeze to do.
