Well I'm convinced. And jealous. And hope to print something like that someday.

Thanks for the lowdown guys.   :)

And to clarify the process, the shirts are dyed leaving a white space where the print will go, and the print overlaps that a bit, creating a seamless transition.  Is this correct?

That's not how we did it and doubt that he does. Whats critical is matching inks to dye stuffs and vice versa

I checked out the site Danny posted, those prints are killer crazy nice, now I got to check out some vids on dyed sub printing or what ever it's called.  I don't see us in that market but would be nice to try and do some even if it's for our on give-a-ways.

I'm fortunate enough to have the Mountain in my backyard (like 45 minutes away) and know someone there. Prints are nice, but honestly they aren't mind blowing. Have a couple samples here floating around, but they nail it on the color matching to the dyes, but they also dye everything in house. There aren't a lot of business out there that I would want to be like, but they are at the top of the list for me.

Sorry for the grainy peg but its a pic of a pic that is over twenty years old. Before Mountain, Liquid Blue, Mirror Image, etc we did this stuff at Harlequin Nature Graphics. We were able to work in conjunction with the dye house to mimic our colors and create organic patterns

Fellers I don't want to bash this guy, but I thinking he is using a style of printing I've never seen or done which is not hard for me, Tonypep seems to know about it.  I looked at Danny's bear print and compare the two seems like the same style of printing both are killer prints now I'll  :-X it and say nice prints.

So you've never seen The Mountain prints?

Not that its the same kind of print, but I did this one in my garage as an experiment with a spray bottle of bleach.

My wife gets me one every Christmas, just spectacular work. As a local paper did a story on them a couple of years ago, commenting on their dyeing and waste recycling, dye first, print second. At least that's what I recall from the article, and it seems to make the most sense. Dye the shirts with the dye that discharges, then print with discharge ink. And I have couple that have a good 50 + washes, still in great shape.
