I would most certainly be paying her a visit...in person, face to face.  You need to explain to her that you don't take any crap like that and more jail time is to come if it happens again.  I'm not sure what laws have been broken but I'm sure some have.

I would get a lawyer that doesn't charge you when you ask questions.  Most lawyers will also tell you they will win in court, when in fact they just want a paycheck.  So keep that in mind.

Maybe prepaid legal is a good route to look.  My friend has good luck with it, the utilities company cracked his driveway after he had it redone, so the attorney drafted a letter and it was handled...no charge because he pays monthly or yearly.

Legal Zoom has a service for this. I think we pay 29.00 bucks a month and you get as many 1/2 hour sessions a month with an Attorney to ask questions to. We did it to ask some stuff and have not canceled it yet. I know you can cancel and sign back up as much as you want and it does not cost anything. It could not hurt to try. Although the bat idea is much more attractive.... but then you would need a lawyer for the aftermath of that.

Uhgg... we just let a girl go today.

Nothing bad, just couldn't do her job with any competence.  We let her down easy and said it was because her position became focused on accounting more and we needed someone that was stronger in that roll.  This allows her to save face with friends and potential new employers.

We do fear some backlash, but it ended amicably as far as I could tell.  We told her we would still do her wedding invitations and such at cost and they are tenants in my rental unit.  We paid her through the end of the week and a few more bucks then gave them a month free rent as well to help them while she looks for new work.  The rent doesn't "cost" us anything since we don't ever "count" on that property paying us regularly.

Nothing suprised me anymore with screen printers. There is a guy in this town who I helped tremendously.once I started big idea a couple years ago he started calling marketing company's all over Columbia telling them I was bad news, had a rep for counterfeiting money etc. all of a sudden I started getting calls from some of them saying we don't know you but we thought you should know what this guy is doing. Today 2 of them are regular contract customers. Unbelievable what someone will do to hurt another. After it all I found out it all started with a local tee shirt supplier who received a counterfeit bill and I was one of 8 people that day that paid cash. They were openly talking about it with this clown in there picking up shirts.

We are meticulous with all things employee. We have cameras everywhere. We have labor lawyer on retainer.

What a sad state of affairs today.

We try real hard to weed before hiring. If we want the hire, but still feel hinky, we have a set of eval tests from a company we give. The tests usually find the flaw.

Where in heavens name do these people have time for this ?
