Advantage.......DCUB
« on: January 09, 2013, 02:11:47 PM »
One of the advantages here is that you're not printing on "plastic" but slightly moist fabric. This allows for exceptionally crisp colors that are touching but not bleeding.
Without all the extra flashing. The top colors printed wet on wet.
(sorry to keep beating the discharge horse)

Actually glad you brought this up Tony... I've been meaning to ask a question.

Typical DC/WB needs a longer time in the dryer than plastisol.

But what about something like this with plastisol on top of DC?  Does it basically still need that slow cook effect?  (I'm assuming, yes, but figured I'd ask and be 100%)

Depends on your dryer and well, a lot of things. Since the DCUB is partially steamed off by the flash it's getting a bump before it enters the drying chamber

Whats up with the white around the bottom edge of the design? I figure that is just the registration not being perfect but it looks like white ink which makes me wonder, are you using a straight discharge base or a white discharge base?

None the less, getting all those colors that bright with no flashing is awesome.....We are running some plastisol shirts right now for wd-40 and its all big solid areas of color that touch each other.. Total pain in the ass as we run this job with 3 flashes to make sure everything stays perfectly crisp.

Your discharge stuff is always impressive!

Yeah it bumped out a tic. The red looks funny on closeup too must be the camera flash. The DCUB is 80 base 20 white
BTW this is a Gildan Antique jade Dome Heather tee.

I thought most people don't even flash the UB with DC?  I guess if you have an anemic dryer it's best to give it a bit of a flash bump?
