$15-25 per non standard color, depending on complexity and garments, one time charge. That is, I won't charge it again once I have it dialed in. It takes me around 15 minutes and sometimes more to mix and test out a new color, well under 10 min to mix from a known recipe. I know I can shave all that down even further with a better ink area. Don't forget your prepress time with it as well. You have got to charge for dc mixes, they flat out take way longer to nail than plastisol.
Charging per piece....eh, thought about having a matrix for wb/dc that's higher than plastisol but as long as I don't break out the wb/dc on super short runs it's actually saving me a lot of money running it. Also, nobody knows what the hell it is and how it's different from plastisol around here so that would take some 'splainin'. My clients all like a soft hand but our plastisol prints have always had a soft hand and it probably feels like magic compared to a lot of the work coming out of this region.
Screened - Thanks for the pointer on running more testers to get buildup. I'm looking forward to checking this out. We are flashing so rarely as it is, this would damn near eliminate it.
Zelko - you sir are getting a screaming deal on WFX Epic. But you're a huge shop right? I would imagine the cost of your mixing base is crazy low.
The only bummer about dc ub + plastisol is you will still ultimately get fibrilation, cracking v. wb...which just gently fades with the shirt, you can't really win on this front I guess.
