Waterbased White on Red Towels
« on: December 07, 2012, 09:23:51 AM »
Doesn't the title say it all? Had a customer call this morning asking about this. We do some waterbase on towels, but always white towels. The last time we tried a white, it was on navy towels; the print came out light blue. Any suggestions?

Cotton towels?  How about Discharge white ink?

Favorite ink brand? I'd just as soon not test every one of them. We used Pavonine in the past, but that was some time ago. I figure there may have been some improvements.

Sericol or CCI. Sericol appears to be fond of free samples (gallons) for now so I'd jump on that

Sericol gave me 8 free gallons!  But when you get ready to buy, watch out, pigment systems are way cheaper.  I even called and beg them to lower my price, they did, still pigment system is almost half their price.

Thanks guys, I'll get some Sericol to test with. How's about a non-discharge white, in case the towels (to be supplied) don't discharge well?

In a case where they don't discharge "WELL",  I think I would then try 1 Discharge and then a 2nd hit of white on a 305 mesh of regular white. Just enough to bump it up and make it brighter.  Might even use a halftone of 70% tone rather than solid white on 305 mesh.  I understand that the threads are looped and will be nappy but the top white is used as sort of a kisser on the top (so to speak).

Well I've done the combo before on tees, but on the towels I want them to stay soft, so I'm a little concerned about putting a fine white plastisol on top, but one extra screen can't hurt that much when it comes to testing. I'll try it with and without.
