Chupacabra
« on: November 29, 2012, 12:15:45 PM »
Doin a series for this place down here.  Throwback like.  I hesitate to call it rat-fink style as that linework is beyond me...it is influenced though and that is the point.

Pencil then inking in Painter.

Wish I knew more in that program.  Slow curve for me, but I like the more organic look.  Pretty fun.

There's a guy I work with I call "Chupacabra" which is like a mythical or not creature that depending on who you hear about from, eats babies and children who misbehave and people who stay up too late.  :)

anyway

Lemorris as always guy, nice work!!, one thing that caught my eye, why is the tooth sticking thru the tongue? seems kind of odd but who I,m I to question your art.  Looking forward to seeing the finish product.

The fact that there's a chupacabra 5 times too big for the car with a stick shift that clearly wont work concerns me more.  LOL

The tooth tongue thing has no reason...just more ridiculousness and stuff to see.  I've seen similar treatments on other kustom pieces.  There will be a couple more things like that.  Just silly.

thanks for checkin it out.

Great, as always. I see a lot of Rat Fink inspiration there, though your work is considerably more sophisticated than Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's. I love this stuff, it makes me nostalgic for the early to mid '60's, no worries or cares besides what's for lunch, Mom? Can't wait to see the final...

Steve now that you mention that it allso remines me of those old matchbox cars with those figures hanging out of them....wish I had some of those, might be worth a few pennies now.

hey man that is really cool, takes me back to the Big Daddy days and the hundreds of hours i tried to draw his characters, had most of his models but that has nothing to do with your art work.....VERY NICE

Here's where the inking landed

and here's where the design is...pretty basic...old skool.

I only mess with Painter a little...it's a tough program and it's hard to get the real knowledge from the high enders.

It's so robust and there's so many options.

I really like it for inking of toon based stuff though.  The variants feel really natural and I love...LOVE the fix brush to path option.  The tablet sensitivity is second only to SAI IMO.

I wish I was better in it....in time.....practice practice practice.  We'll get there.

Fun gig though.

That lizard goes back decades.  It used to be my logo when my business name was "In Toon"  lololol!

He's been sprinkled in designs over the past 20 years.  Seemed like a good series to bring him back for.

I may use it more often now.

I think it's time.

:)

Thanks man.

Hope to see you in January.
