No one cares about tape like we do Andy. To most folks, tape is tape.

I did notice that my contractor pops buys the same Polyken protective ducttapeonsteroids cheaper
than I do.

Actually the tape suppliers I use (like U-Line) list all that information. The average Joe does'nt care but there are literally thousands of options for industrial tapes for applications too numerous too mention. Those people care.

Tony, U-line, at least, lists everything on their site and in the catalog, but not on the product itself.
So I have two issues here.
1. in the office or hardware store, adhesive type is rarely on the label along with the size, thickness and sometimes material.
2. when I have a roll on the shelf from someone who does offer rubber adhesive (like Uline), it is not marked as such. What I don't know is if their cores are printed in different colors for different tape types, but I doubt it, and besides, I don't have the decoder ring.

That is true. On a side note when I ran a form coil dept. for an electric motor rewind shop we had probably close to a hundred varities of tape used for insulation. It's critical that the correct ones are used when re-making the coils. And yes the actual rolls/cores were never marked.

Yupper. I've been using this since Frog mentioned it earlier this year. Absolutely NO residue. I used to use blue painters tape, but damn, it's expensive.

For fifteen years previously, I used something from Central and/or Intertape, but about five years ago, discontinued the rubber based one.

J&J whoops Uline on pricing for that, presuming the same mil thickness and all that.  These are 110yd rolls as well. As I said, very good for WB and therefore everything else. 

They also have 4" tape which we need I guess.  Our coater is less wide than it could be to avoid the sagging, softened corner of the roller frames (not so bad on ones I stretch, flappin' in the breeze on the panels though) so the 3" needs to get doubled up on the long rollers which is a waste compared to just using 4". 

Even the 4" from them is cheaper than the 3" in that uline link and yes, they will deal with you, particularly if you can go to a gross qty.  Check 'em out.  Tell 'em Zoo City Apparel and Al sent ya.

Well, you "payed it forward" as it were. And I've done the same to the shop I work at occasionally in Daytona. They're on their second carton there. The savings in time and aggravation are immeasurable.

We really like the white screen tape from Ryonet. Wouldn't use anything else.

That tape is Shurtape VF-719, might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. I picked up a case off an eBay auction for about $1.50 a roll.

Let me know when you find another deal like that.  Till then I'll stick with Frog's S-660 at $1.99/roll.

It looks like we are talking two vastly different tape types here. On one side we have various clear/tan/white polypropylene or pvc box sealing types, and on the other, paper paint masking  types.
At least that's where Jason's link took me.
