PANEL Boxes for Equipment 8/28

Hi Everyone...

John here with DC Shirt & Print.

I have a new sportsman ex 10/12  (28 A) , along with a 20"x 24" (34 A) Red Chili & TACANA  18" x 20" (33 A) flash arriving next week. All 3 phase, 208 service

I have had a separate 200 AMP panel installed for these arrivals. Tonight my electrician
is installing a separate 100 AMP disconnect for the 3 pieces of equipment. Can this equipment all be run thru the same disconnect? Or does each piece require a separate disconnect?  Do the flashes require disconnects since I can just UNPLUG the large plugs on the wires? J

For the new 60" radicure [10' heat] 208 service , i had a separate 200 amp panel installed also. Separate disconnect for the dryer all together. I know that much.

Basically, not being an electrician.. this set up is a little bit different than how my other automatic, flashes and dryer were installed.

I am trying to get a better understanding of exactly how to run the press and two flashes off of the main 200 A panel.

Any advice is appreciated, and I will pass along to my electrician.

In theory I don't see why it couldn't be all run through one 100 amp disconnect.

In practice I have no experience.

It's not like they will be pulling all 95 amps 100% of the time.  The press will rarely draw all 28 amps I imagine and surely won't be drawing it all while the flashes are firing since it won't be indexing at that moment.

This is probably going to vary from area to area as far as what's code but, we also have a 200a 208 3phase box we installed earlier this year and this is what our electrician did:

If you are x' away from the box and it's clear and accesible you don't need the shutoff, just run to the box and flip the breaker. 

For the flashes use the Hubbel twist locks. 

So we don't actually have a disconnect on either of the two flashes - 240v IR and 20x24 Red Chili - or the TexAir Dryer which is rated at 110a. 

Those shut offs for the high amperage are spennnndy.  But if you need them to stay safe, get 'em, don't mess around.  In our case we are literally a few strides from the box which is completely open and unobstructed so it wasn't necessary.

True that.  I think we had one and then bought a lesser brand of twist lock for the other.   Still, the shutoff for gear over 100a is stupid expensive.

If he is a real electrician he should now what is and isn't allowed. State code and national code. Flashes I have quick locking plugs as in Zoo's comment, press i close to breaker box so we have breakers for disconnect.
Compressor I would have disconnect though.

thats how mine is set up.we put in  a box in the same room as the equipment...everything is run off the box now..compressor, fusion dryer, flash and press. Did not have to do a disconnect because the box is right there....would have made no sense really...

I think the panel has to be in line of sight, otherwise you must have a disconnect box.  We have one for our exposure unit.  We also have a shutoff for our oven as well, but that is because an off switch is an option.  I guess I forgot to ask for that.
