Epson 1430

Now that we had to replace our 1400 with the newer 1430 and struggled with getting Fast Films to work correctly we now have a new problem.

Even tho the carts are identical for the 1400 as the 1430 the auto reset carts we got from GDS will not work. We now have a bulk system for a printer that is extremely scarce since Epson discontinued it. Anyways i contacted GDS about their future plans for this printer with no reply yet even posted on their FB page and no reply. Is anyone else using this printer yet? I tried searching for a resetter like we used to have for our 1800 with no luck.

I print tons of films there is no way we can afford to keep buying replacement carts day after day this is nuts.

I just ordered a refurbished 1400 TODAY as a matter of fact, to postpone this very problem. 179.00 shipped from the Epson Refurb website. I hate planned obsolescence. I figure by the time my next 1400 (arriving Thursday) is done, I'll be ready for a real image setter, like an Oyo. That or retirement.

I been searching no luck on resetting these carts yet.

Stan hopefully your refurb holds on I liked the 1400 but we went through two of them pretty quick I dont know how much you print with them but they did not last us long at all. I tried to find one around here with zero luck. I will assume someone is going to come up with a bulk system for the 1430 soon.

Mike, watch E-bay for the bulk/refill carts. There's a guy on there that has all this stuff. I have his contact info some place. I just ordered  another 1400 from amazon for the same reason. I didn't want to get screwed with these refill carts and chips that don't work on the 1430. So now we have 3 1400's. My next move is to a real printer, but for now these work pretty decent. Let me see if I can hunt that guy down.

I buy ink from Cobra (Cobraink.com) in Tennessee. I find Richard VERY knowledgeable. He might have info on the 1430 system.

Just remember, Epson in NOT really in the printer business per se.  They are in the INK business. Keeping one step ahead of the competition is Job 1. That is primarily why there is a continual upgrading of printers....to keep ahead of aftermarket ink sellers. Inkjet ink probably is the most expensive (and lucrative) liquid on the planet.

Inkjet ink is the most expensive liquid available on the open market.  A few years back I know it was around $185,000 to fill your gas tank.

I wonder how toner powder for laser printers relates in this regard. Maybe.  we should be snorting it.

Damn that might be exactly what I need Homer! It must have auto reset chips to work, I dont care if it is for sub I will only have clear cleaning fluid in all the carts except for the black. Thanks bro going to buy it and see if it works.

What exactly is clear cleaning fluid. And is it something that can be used in epson 1800, and 1900 printers insted of all the other colors as i only use matte black. I currently put black inall my refillable carts.

The fluid is just a mild cleaning fluid that you keep in your unused colors, its cheap and will extend the life of the print head.

I have been advised on our smaller printers it is not beneficial to use all black ink, it work for the big suckers like the 4880 and up but on the smaller ones it does not make any difference.

Because you have all your carts filled black you will waste black ink on every cleaning cycle that ink cost a lot more than the clear cleaning solution.

I use the Cobra CIS all black system in my 1430.. no problems at all... works great.

when the cartridges need to be reset, there's a little button that you can press that resets all the cartridge chips at the same time.

JV beat me to it but yes the system that Cobra came up with works perfectly, very very easy to refill the bulk tanks and the inks are really affordable. The little reset button is a blessing, only press it once and all carts are reset.
