"He who marches out of step hears another drum." ~ Ken Kesey
So for my 1st job I work for a very large company that is very old very well known and world wide. As part of their employee perks they offer non paid leaves of absents and they say its for things like child birth, care for family members personal growth and development, school blah blah blah. So I figure I will see if I can take a 28 days leave and really focus on growing my printing biz and maybe move out of my garage hire a part timers and get things to the next baby step. SO I ask my 2nd level manager her feeling about approving that and she said and I quote "The company is not really concerned with their employees personal growth and development we will not approve a leave for such a thing its not something we think is needed". I just smiled chuckled and said oh I see thanks for your time. So now after 8 hours of thinking about it I cant stop laughing, how insane is that way of thinking?? WOW. I am not sure why I am posting this I just needed to vent I guess but it is crazy thinking right??
You need to understand for your own future if that attitude is hers or she is monkey mouthing the true company policy. If it is her go over her head if it is the overall company you and everyone there below a certain level are just profit fodder and you have no real future unless you want to be a slave.in general as a manager especially in todays world that was a terrible way to deal with an employee at ANY level.I am curious, i know you will not spit out the name but is this a company one where I might but products and services every day just a a consumer?mooseman[/quot]Yes you may use us and not even know, as far as the future here it is sad but I will ride the paying pony as long as possible Sent from samsung gem(the worst smart phone ever)
i was sort of thinking the same thing. 28 days of "personal growth" leave is a long time. isn't that usually called vacation?I would have a hard time with an employee being gone for a month. she probably doesn't want you to take time off because it will be more work for her.
it's because they know you print. they know you have a business you are starting and since they clearly view you as valuable they don't want you to move on. At least that is my take.Sometimes leaving important details out is a good thing. My dad was fired when his old boss found out about him printing on the side.
I am not saying lie to her...I am saying word it so you get the results you want...right now you hurt yourself that is all...I can bet she is not going to be thinking about it for 1 minute...but you are and you will be for a while.sometimes things are best left unsaid..sam
