Yellow Plastisol on red fleece
« on: March 07, 2012, 11:57:22 PM »
We are printing a contract job for a client on Red Tultex Pullover Hoods. It's a yellow front and back print, using Union Yellow Maxopaque ink.

They seem to be going ok...but i do want to make sure these will not bleed.

Any tips to ensure it's ok? or am i just being overly paranoid?

union makes the golden yellow in a maxopake low bleed. if your using that and pfp your probably ok. I personally would print a lb unberbase white then yellow..

i just checked and it's just normal golden yellow. However these hoods are 80/20, and i am doing a print flash print...

would it be better to do that White low bleed?

honestly I wouldnt risk the possibility of post migration running the standard maxopake. I would underbase with your standard lb white then overprint using your maxopake yellow.

The right way is to use a base.

Right now i'm running this job like this:

Head 1: 156-Maxopaque Yellow
Head 3: Flash
Head 10: 230-Maxopaque Yellow

In the morning ill be switching over to LB maxopaque Yellow. Unfortunately due to problems with our press registration and time constraints on the job i cannot do a white under base.

I feel this should be sufficient, but if anyone would care to explain why it wouldn't be, i'd be really appreciative!
Thanks!

At least with Golden Yellow on red, any bleeding may only be slightly noticeable. A reddish yellow slightly tinting more reddish is not nearly as outrageous as white turning pink!
I'd use the low bleed ink, and go for it.
And, keep your temps to the minimum needed to cure.

I also preheated these through my gas dryer, at a high temp (345), with a low belt speed, to help heat them properly before hand.

That's fine for driving out moisture, or pre-shrinking, but does absolutely nothing to reduce bleeding.

You're already using two screens, Just add a .75 color stroke to the art then use that for an underbase, and print the yellow on top at regular size and it will fall off the edge of the white to help with any reg issues you may have.
