Ok smart ass...it well not save a file last night that i was working on for 3 hours. opened a new file, saved it, worked for a while, saved, worked some more hit save, error unable to save maessage of some kind. This was the swcond time of redrawing this said file, the first time i didnt save at all and it error coded me, 2 hours down the drain. any thoughts.....thanks, by the way just joking about the smart ass thing.

Sometimes, it will do that. Try "Save As", that should help. Sometimes, I would get the warning that I can not save the file with that name, all I do is "Save as" and that takes care of it.

And BTW, I would suggest that you save more often than every 3 hours

yeah I tried the "save as" route, no dice. You just dont know how pissed i was last night, I tried for at least 30 mins to save it with no luck. I almost curb stomped my f"in computer, american history X style..........

dude. . that would be awesome to see. . some nutjob setting his puter on the curb. . bite the curb mo fo. . .wham! . .I'm with ya, I almost drove around town with mine attached to my hitch. I get the saving error sometimes in corel too. . sometimes it just closes when I import a graphic or run a plug in. .I just installed X4 a few days ago, so far I'm good.

Yeah I've been working with AI for a little while and this is the first time it has pulled this crap....I can hear teeth grinding against the concrete as we type

Can't save and can't print file comes up every few months. Not sure why. I have found its something in the file. A few things to try next time. Copy all your art and past into a new file. This works about half the time. The next thing is to just copy parts of the file. See how much you can copy over and still save the new file. A lot of the time it is just a tiny part that makes the file not save.

U've been learning how to ink in AI and it seems when I turn my pencil sketch into a template that is when it gets a messed up file or something.

Why do that. Just put it in another layer an lock that layer. I never liked the template part.

Try "save as" but in a different location, like a different folder or the desktop.

Do they also have the option to "Save as Copy"?

hope you get it resolved.  Always sucks working on something just to have the file go corrupt on you.
