How are you guys seeing say, Custom Ink or 4 Imp. using DTF for multiple color prints?
Are they at all, or using DTF in substitution on higher color screenprint images?

How would one know if they choose DTF or Screenprinting?

Thanks,
GG

We do DTF in house for small order's and one of high color print's, the problem with DTF is large print's with full color still feel like crap, I 've got sample's from a bunch of different companies but all are left chest or cap size send me a 13 x 15.  Screen printing ain't going anywhere no time soon, they said DTG was taking over, see where that went right, now DTF on the other hand is a much easier process than DTG and if you ever get large print's nice and soft it's a great partner with screen printing. Far as Custom Ink and 4 Imprint's who knows and for choosing DTF or screen print order size and color max
Life is like Kool-Aid, gotta add sugar/hardwork to make it sweet!!

I would think that would only matter if the end user cared or knew the difference, right?  Depends on the customer base I suppose. People ordering off custom ink and 4 Imp are not our type of customer, we usually see them as price oriented and I would highly doubt they know the difference. From our experience, they see zero value in design, product quality or anything else we have to offer. They want it cheap and fast - I totally get it.. Just not our target customer.... We do a lot of schools and they don't know or care what the difference is either...Color count doesn't mean a thing anymore. Like back in the day with vinyl, one color signs vs multi color, all the weeding and layering. That all went away with digital. Same with offset. Who cares how many colors are in the print?!...... I think DTF is sucking the value right out of screen printing- not saying screening will go away, it just seems like it won't fetch the money it should. Our skillsets aren't as valuable anymore.. One of the many problems with DTF is cost of entry to this industry just went through the floor, thanks to vendors like S&S offering accounts to anyone with a pulse and selling ninja transfers. Many of the large shops may not give a rip about it, but us small shops get affected by this.
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

Custom ink partnered with Kornit last year and are moving most of their production to DTG it seems. After all the issues with their screen print facilities I think they have thrown in the towel on screen printing. Except what they may out source.

Sounds good to me
