Separating brown tones

Does anyone have any tips for separating dedicated brown tones from an image?

I'm finding it difficult to get clean results especially when the art has a mixture of yellow, red and black in other areas.

You might start with isolating the brown tones; duplicate the file and remove all but those, do work on it there, then copy it back into your main file.
