Air Filtration

Happy 2022 All. Looking to add some air filtration to the shop to help cut down on lint and dust. I was doing some research on portable air scrubbers. They seem to just be giant HEPA filters. Something similar to these Im guessing, but I could be completely off. Something we can just capture some of the lint around the shop.

Any one ever add something like this to their shop? I hate the lint buildup everywhere and 2022 is "The Year of Being Cleaner" for us. Or maybe Im way off. I just know we are sick of lint. But then again, as the great Mr. Kitson told me once, we don't produce tshirts. We add value to them. What we produce is lint! Ha. Or something like that....

If you’re willing to consider a quick and cheap option… a Merv 13 air filter taped to a 20” box fan.

FYI… I think the best location to mount a filter is above the discharge end of a dryer, in that airstream of hot air that wants to carry all the lint to the ceiling.

There are a lot of dust options in the woodworking industry, a friend uses a few from hobby work shop suppliers in his sewing dept.

A DIY one works as well if not better than the big professional units.  The biggest thing is both airflow and quality filters.

Thats an intense read! But hey, the guy did his research! It was my initial intention to build something, but then I was feeling lazy. But if its going to outperform a 500.00 unit and save me a few pennies... Im not looking to keep the place sterile, just cut down a little bit. Just hate when we get busy and next thing you know the top of the dryer has a 1/4 of lint on it.
