Plastisol Shortage

Got an email this morning about there being a shortage of components to make plastisol inks, anyone else get this from your ink supplier, so far it's coming from a company distributor of Wilflex.

I heard that from John @ Union. The white ink was the big one.
Great harder to get.

There is a shortage of Rutland in Europe.     They said something about a big producer in Texas not working for a while.

Yes Rutland white has been hard to get the last few months in Canada , I am having to stock more than ever no more just in time.

My ink supplier just told me that Wilflex has a 20-30% price increase coming.

My friend in New Zealand is saying that there is basically no white plastisol in the country at all and it's a 2 month wait. And prices have increased something like 5 times

It was obvious when Polyone bought Rutland that the prices were going to go up.
Now they have a good excuse.
Time to start looking more seriously at the Italian and Turkish plastisols, I have had good results with EPTA, Manoukian.
Cotton and shipping prices are going up like crazy as well.
Going to be a fun year.

Funny you should mention Turkish plastisol my supplier just mentioned it as an alternative this week , are they known for there plastisol inks?

This looks like it is soon to be a self-fulfilling prophecy like toilet paper. Folks who used to consider a Costco case more than enough, soon brought their kids to help push the second shopping cart full.

i talked to my rep and he said theres low stock on specialty inks - glitters, odd/infrequently used bases...  wilflex is concentrating manufacturing on the core product line so print shops dont run out.
