Anyone running an MHM X-Type?

Going to be upgrading presses soon and now that SPSI is the MHM distributor I have them back on my list. Anyone using the X-Type that can shed some light on how they are?

Will do, thanks! I spoke with Mike a while back for a quote and he told us to come out to check out the showroom. The closest shops near me running MHMs are all running S-Types and that's a bit overkill for us.

We're running two s-type extremes and l-o-v-e them.  must have the mechanical zeros on your microregistration. it's a spring loaded pin that falls into a divot once per revolution on the micro registration knob. This gives you an actual zero (vs. just reading a dial). it be just the best haha!

That is appealing, I may take you up on that. On a Map Long Island is close but the traffic at those bridges turns it into a 2 hour drive haha.

We have two Xs and two S types all twelve color. Never going to say I love them but I am an M&R guy. Pros: pallet locking system and non deflecting pallets....its a beefy table. Cons: Sideways micros (no top to bottom right/left, squeegee/floodbar clamps , and peg and hole screen clamps based on decades old table printing techniques. So no retens and no triloc or DTS (at least for us, for now. Looking into the MHM DTS but not getting much info> I would'nt mind seeing a pic of the pin micros they sound different than ours. If we could truly find actual zero on the presses then a MHM Spyder DTS or modified M&R DTS would be an excellent consideration. You may want to consider this as well.

Thanks for the info Tony. I'm pretty much brand agnostic. I love the M&R I have and would buy an upgraded M&R press next, I'm not ruling that out. I really like the MHM for the pin lock system and because the squeegees and flood bars can be lifted up which seems like it would make change overs much quicker. Especially if you do a lot of white ink printing or similar colors, etc. And as much as I love the tri-loc I think it would be awesome to not have to change a pallet out for each setup. Maybe I'm overthinking those little extras I have to do. Also, both Roq and MHM seem to run on much lower amperage which is a plus. I'm going to be limited to 200 amp single phase and most the M&R presses I'm considering seem to be double the amp usage of the other presses I've looked at.

MHM is a nice press. As is the M&R. Any one of those will serve you well and make you money if you have the work.

Thanks Pierre. I've spoke with Brian a bunch over at Roq and he's been great. I do really love those presses and will deeply consider all the options. As I'm sure I've said before, I'm a small 1.5 man operation. Soon to be a 2 person team. Trying to keep it as small as I can and produce as much as possible with a skeleton crew.

Thank You for the pics. Those micros are the same as ours. Looks like Diamond Chase frames though not sure..... ours have been bought premade statics. Cannot be sure if our presses are truly set to zero until we take away the human step of placing films.

We started with M&R, then ROQ, now 2 x S Type Xtremes with a Douthitt CTS. We wish we would have started with MHM and skipped the others. Feel free to call any time 727-581-4066. Ask for Mike (that's the owner)

I think if you had everything dialed in, pins with CTS and the press can really zero out properly, it's probably the best for easy registration in theory.

Where I worked previously many years ago, we had an MHM and while they all push ink through a screen, loading ink and doing color changes with those bars around the screen was a nightmare to me.  Maybe it's something you would get used to, but the access to the screen was a PITA, and I doubt on that older press if you popped a screen out to access easier and put it right back in that it would be in registration still.  However old pins, no maintenance, bad screens.

Also you are only as good as your support, and if parts still have to be shipped in from Europe fixes can be more expensive and take longer, so I'd make sure support over the last 9 years since my last experience has really gotten better.

I think the MHM are probably the best in theory, but loading and doing ink changes in those bad boys sucks, maybe if you are taller not as bad of an issue.  Does ROQ offer a pin screen option?  I seem to remember they used to?
