Ink-jet hits the embroidery Machine
« on: November 15, 2019, 01:30:46 PM »
Any one heard of Coloreel?, from what I see and read coloreel is a unit that you can attach to just about any embroidery machine making your machine an instant dye machine for white thread and you can have access to tons of colors using only one thread.  Technology is moving fast with ink-jet and this is something I'd like to see and what does it cost?

Don't know about pricing, I would suspect it would be a pretty penny.

pretty cool. MSRP is just above $20K, so not bad at all. if the consumables are priced correctly it could be a game changer.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

That looks really cool. I wonder how it handles if you have to back up in the design and such, is it smart?

that's the thing, you only need one per machine. Tajima and Barudan should just make a single color. That would save a lot of money.

Oops, yup I got you now. Yes, it would need one for each head. Yup, that would get expensive.

Ya that makes it pretty cost prohibitive at this stage.

You might save on thread but then that ink cost and what all comes with maintaining inkjets factor in, you know what you get with thread, but ink?  still a nice idea if the cost is right for one single machines.

I wonder if this will make gradients better. I get logos with the sun in them all the time. We end up changing them to 1 -2 thread colors as it is not practical to run 26 shades of yellow... We do send all of our embroidery out so I may not really have a good handle on the process.
When you dig grave will you make it shallow so that I can feel the rain?

You need a new digitizer if the ones you use can't do a gradient fill.
I have done all kinds of suns and gradients and even a mermaid's tail from green to purple. using 2-3 thread colors and fill patterns.
