"He who marches out of step hears another drum." ~ Ken Kesey
I've used Union Bright red for my stock red for close to 30 years! It's exactly what I think that a red should look like. I have someone who runs some contract for me, and his red, 185C, is too orange, and I may call out a different Pantone next time. Anyone know what the closest pantone # to Union's Bright red is?Also, for the OP, are you using Union Ultrasoft? (Kinda' what blue moon asked as well while I was typing)Do you modify it at all? Even thirty years ago, we were kicking in some "Clear for Silver" before there was the wide variety of soft hand bases out there.
We are running ultrasoft. We have the Union bucket, and then like mimosatexas, we have about 5 other Red mixes that we use as "stock red" for various projects and applications. I just wanted to see what everyone is using. Hoping maybe I find a good red that I haven't tried yet. Union and QCM have the best color but run the worst. GSG Vortex and Wilflex Epic National run good but everyone complains that its too orange.
What does everyone use for a stock bucket Red? We have used several different ones and we always seem to get some vendor complaints that our stock red is to orange. Currently we have Union Bright Red. Color is better than some of the others, I just hate the way it runs. To thick and gummy for my liking. I am hoping someone has a good suggestion so we don't have to go to a mix for stock red.
Wilflex Really Red is my new standard. Closest Pantone is 711C. Great all around red. I do mix a lot of custom colors these days. Just mixed 485C and it was on the orange side but I think I goofed up on which inks to use. Unions Unimatch system is a little puzzling at times.
