Soy based inks?
« on: July 31, 2019, 11:18:18 AM »
Have a client wanting "soy based discharge" claiming their last print shop used it (who is out of business).  I think they were sold a load of crap or misunderstood something.  I do see that at one time one stroke inks sold a soy based line but it looks like it has been discontinued?  Any leads on alternatives that might appeal to a green conscious client.  Art is white on black of course...

One Stroke still shows it on there website with pricing when I log in, so you might give them a call and inquire.

Everything else I can search for is paper printing soy based ink.

Hey, has any one tried the one stroke soy inks?

The thread about their white ink has me interested in checking out the white but very curious about the soy inks also

i used it YEARS ago. easily 15 years ago. It worked fine. its very oily, and separates from sitting to long. but works great. No different than any other plastisol.

currently - the only "soy based" ingredients for plastisol are plastisicers which make up roughly 30% of the ink - give or take.  They are also on the yellow/brown side so you cant use that much or it discolors your ink.

So no - no "Soy Based" plastisols on the market. based on that terminology.  Soy ingredients - yes.

So inks made with soy is a thing and has been for decades.

That's neat! What's the advantage to using algae?

And I kid, oat milk has saved me a lot of money because after being forced to drink a lot of cappuccinos made with it I realized I could just put a little play doh in my coffee and experience the same, wonderful flavor.

first of all, you're wrong. oat milk is so freaking good. second of all, that algea ink is pretty cool, and there are different colors you can use. The ink itself isn't made from algea, it's the pigment. It uses recycled algea instead of carbon.

Agreed.

Also, are there other algae ink companies? Cause I believe Living Ink only has black available
