On press foil, Does yours dull running through a dryer?

Hey guys

Been using the hot head for in line foiling, but came across an interesting issue, and I am wondering what you guys are doing.

We got some A magic holographic foil, and it runs great on press, all of the other colours running after are great, but once run through the dryer, it loses it "Lustre"

We realized this, and switched to pressing after curing and it is so much more vibrant...

For gold I don't mind it losing a bit of the smooth shiny-ness, but wondering if you guys run into the same thing..

Yes, the inline foil manufacturers like to claim that it doesn't tarnish, but it definitely will when going through the dryer.

I like the more matted look personally, but if the customer is after bling then post application is the way to go, or possibly could go back on press and done inline on a second round and not ran through the dryer as you may get more pieces per hour on an auto than a traditional heat press.

Depends on the customer and expected results. Some will deny the tarnish issue but in my experience it has always existed.

I dont think there is many options for this . we have sampled every glue and foil on the planet but we do have george from portugal and buck here for 2 days next week to help us improve the whole in line foiling process.

The pros to inline are of course less labor. The cons are final product.

does foil tarnish with normal washing and drying?

We don't offer foil...and probably never will.

Our retail clients like Disney, Hard rock and every major love the final product. It seems that most are not looking for the super shiney foil look.

we have both union and matsui. Waterbased stuff is more sticky but is a bitch to work with as it dries in the screen.  Plastisol has a similar problem and is gumming up in the mesh. In either case, one hit of glue is not enough. It works with about 99% of the area but the corners are a problem.

Yea we do one stroke in most cases but I know exactly what your talking about. We find oinly the waterbase products work well for us with the inline. Crazy how all shops are different

We struggled with amagic/virus foil adhesive inline..... The matsui w/ some additives has worked the best for us......

That last job we ran was in the 500 per hour range with that combo. The customer prefers the "through the dryer" look.
