Anybody buy from the auction in Clute, TX today?
« on: April 11, 2019, 07:45:14 PM »
Anybody from the Houston area (or wherever) buy anything from the screen printing / embroidery auction in Clute, TX today?  This is my hometown (Lake Jackson) and was a closed shop from my main competitor.   I bought a few pieces, but man, some people went crazy on the prices!!   This place was a disaster....

Let me know what everybody bought....I may have some knowledge.  I did a walkthrough on Wednesday.

After seeing some of the equipment and supplies, was surprised at some of the prices.

Sportsman EX - $22,950 + 15% buyers premium: $26,392. Maybe that's good, but it wasn't take care of.
A couple of Red Chili's - $2600 + bp - around $3000
Epson Surecolor P800 - $620 + bp - $700....new ones are $900.  This one has sat for quite some time.
Epilog legend 6000 laser for $2000 + bp.  Doesn't even have a head!  Rusted inside.
Stahls mug press - $370 + bp....and it is about 25 years old
30 aluminum pallets for the centurion - $460 + bp... the way they were stacked someone probably thought they were for M&R, but in horrible condition.
Tons of wooden 100 and 156 23x31" screens went for about $10 each

I did buy the Epson 4800 with computer.  I currently run a 4800 and a 4880 and will keep this as a backup/parts unit.  I've rebuilt just a few of these :-\

Oh, and most all the ink containers were almost empty..... I'd hate to have to move all of those!

Big score was probably the 2200 caps/visors for $2325, and the 1750 pieces of shirts/sweatshirts/hoodies for $1300.

Very expensive firewood, and no good for nuthin' else.

Them only having wooden frames in 110 and 156 and an M&R Sportsman.... that there is enough to tell you why their quality sucked.  I just landed a few of their big contracts, I could have priced even higher, because they hated the rough prints...  Wait till they experience a few of my hsa water based jobs..
