what am I missing here
« on: February 06, 2019, 07:01:49 PM »
Yesterday my 73 year old buddy was visiting my shop.
Soon after he arrived a "customer" came in.
He wanted one Irish green hoodie with no decoration, said he had been looking for one for over 2 years but could not find anywhere that didn't have some junk printed on it.  At this point all my radar lights were blowing up. This was a 40+ year old guy driving a decent car and wearing reasonable clothes who could not find a hoodie he wanted for over 2 freaking years of looking.

He says all the stuff I can find is junk and it is printed with some junk I don't want I want a blank hoodie.
Me....Sorry we do not supply undecorated goods and do not accept orders for less than 12 pieces
the guy persists, I just want a plain Irish green hoodie what do you have.

To shorten up this story I refer the guy to JC Penny's and a local very large and popular brand  outlet mall https://www.premiumoutlets.com/brands/center/waterloo

He says there is nothing at that mall I want or like. WTF there are over 100 stores there and you can't find a decent hoodie ?
I refer him to SanMar outlet
He says so you don't have an Irish green hoodie that I can buy.
Me.....no I do not supply one item blank items

Him but I can't get one from you I really want to buy locally.
I refer him to the outlet mall 8 miles away which is also locally available.......
Also I suggested to save him another 2 years of searching he might try a Google search.

This was a 2 second Google search I did just for shirts & grins

FINALLY he leaves
My buddy Gerry (after the guy left) ripped me a new one for even putting up with this idiot.
I can't even relate the ripping my buddy gave me because every other word would be XXXXXX out.

The guy seemed perfectly normal except for his search for the holy grail hoodie. Fifteen minutes of my life I will never get back.
This would bee U N B E L I E V E A B LE  except I have a witness.

I would have sold him the blank hoodie.  Couldn’t find it in 2 years? Then it has to be worth at least 75.00. He would have either paid it or told me to go eff myself. Either way, that 15 minutes would have been cut down to about 3 or under.  8)

Send him to Jiffy Shirt.  I have more wanna be clothing lines come in here with stuff the buy from there.  It's everything available from Alpha.

I have had a TON of time wasters this year so far.  The lady that couldn't get over $90 in setups for a 6 color job on 60 pcs.  My price was better than shop down the street, but they had cheaper setups, so she wanted me to match that.

The lady that can't shut up long enough to realize she's talking in circles and I don't give a rat's behind.  I sent her an email that spells EVERYTHING out in detail on why 7 shirts cost what they do...especially when it's 2-3xl's.

We are slow right now(as per usual Feb.) but I am sure as heck not discounting shirts to keep the presses busy.  I'd rather have the guys install the new office flooring.(so would they, it's a nice change of pace).

Hey Homer
Absolutely correct actually the zombies in my head were screaming GET THE F OUT all the while.
It struck me early on that this effin idiot was so self important that with the approach of St Pat's day he just had to be ready to fit in.
He never spent more than 5 minutes doing anything for himself. In his middle 40's mommy most likely still wipes his back side makes his lunch and kisses him on the forehead everyday.

It was my pleasure to watch him try to work me to be part of his list of enablers and watch the dissappointment on his face and in his body language every time he could not get me to throw in for him.
I wear a Sport Tek 12 ounce hoodie everyday, i grabbed this off the hook and handed  him the hoodie (i know it is not available in Irish green )
and he actually did not like it . It wasn't what he is looking for . Then I showed him a Gildan 185000 guess what that didn't work either.
This self important piece of crap should bring his mommy and his full length mirror with him as he continues his quest for the "holy hoodie"

His problem was not that he can not find a hoodie his problem is he can not find someone who will replace what mommy does for him and get him ready for another ST Pat's day so he can fit in without lifting a finger to help himself.  I gave him my card with a not on the back to search SanMaroutlet.com.  He miserably took it and realized now he has to go find someone who will look that up on the web for him . Poor baby .

I've actually started to tell "hagglers" that I know my prices are good, and that I kind of resent people cutting my price down. Try CustomInk!

maybe not $75 but open supplier customer catalogue show them MSRP + $15 shipping pay up front will call when here. Not worth getting worked up about.

had an electrician come in the other day, first thing out of his mouth was bashing my main competitors price, and then asked "how much is your average invoice?"...then proceeded to tell me which shade of royal blue they wanted their van graphics and t-shirts printed in.....and THEN asked me to go through my catalog and flag all the items that were 100% cotton....it did not end well....sometimes you just get a gut feeling

I think the feeling is more like a pain and the location is a bit lower ;)

You probably dodged your self a bullet by not giving in and ordering him a green hoodie. A person like that would not be happy with the ordered product once arrived, they always find a problem to ultimately waste a ton more of your time, and before you even know it your actually going in the negative trying to please the guy.
