Any Good Gossip or Interesting Industry Happenings

Any new and interesting news going on in our little industry lately?  Any shops shutting down or changing brands?  New equipment being developed?  Anything new in the CTS/DTS world?  Remember when a certain someone told everyone they were the one who developed a new auto (on multiple brands and machines) yet they had zero to do with it?  Is there any of that still going on in the industry or did it stop when that dude left the industry?  Anyone out there still trying to oversell their influence and capabilities for no reason whatsoever other than boost their ego?  I'm just trying to spark some dialogue and at the same time maybe teach/learn a few things.  It's been a while since I read any heat around here...and it's cold in the shop this morning.

Sounds like you'd like the really contentious stuff that we purposefully tried to avoid when we started the place. Not industry related, but you could always bring up the Donald vs. Nancy thing in the Controversy Cage. With what one may have expected to be an argument-filled space since the presidential election, the Cage has been surprisingly quiet. Social media is where one seems to go now for their daily dose of nastiness.

Your post itself is not too hot, nor did I take it that seriously. But just in case, and for the benefit of newcomers,  I merely pointed out the crap that went down across numerous boards a few years back did the industry no good at all! Besides actually destroying at least two good forums, it sidetracked meaningful discussion and education on others as well. I know that you don't want to see a repeat of that. You have always been far too much of a serious contributor and participant.

How about some news on some old timers? I seen the sad news that Killer passed away. How about Preston anyone heard anything from him the past few years? If anyone is curious he who shall not be named is still in the mattress business, seems he is done in this industry for good.

Ha!  I took Alan's post simply to say, Hey what's happening?.  And Andy (If I may speak for Andy for a moment) often speaks very literal. As in, he's posting his honest thoughts in depth either pro or con looking at both sides of the coin on the matter yet never intending to offend, just speaking candidly and often seemingly more serious that it is. If you can see his face while he's typing, there would be a big smile on it, I'm sure.

The CEO of REI was fired for sleeping with another executive within the industry.  No idea who it was.  Does anyone know?


I think Frogs issue was, and I agree, by phrasing the question as, "Any good gossip..."    Who wants to gossip and who wants to be gossiped about?  Due unto others...  FWIW I have no idea who that certain someone was and I don't care.  Unless it was going to impact the warranties on my machines he's free to say whatever he wants to.  More power to em.

But if it helps, I heard from a group of people at a table behind me at Long Beach around 12:30am at the Westin hotel that no less than 17 businesses with owners that post here are going out of business due to tax fraud.  Specifically 9 of them were running local contractors orders as tax exempt on their uniforms and the other 8 were taking cash from the landscaping companies and under reporting the revenue.  Fourteen of them will be in jail for no less than 20 years where they are hoping to start up a screen printing facility within the prison and begin low balling bids as a HUB entity.    Also, John Sheridan flipped off an elderly lady last week on his bike while carrying a 5 gallon bucket of emulsion from his local supplier as Danny forgot to order it the day before because he was busy getting ready for a Justin Timberlake concert.

I don't think to many people want to talk politic's, this administration has brought debates' and opinion's to a war if you don't agree with one side or the other, but how is old Preston, need to look him up, have not spoke with him in awhile.
