Epson 7600 mac OS X sierra
« on: May 04, 2017, 03:44:56 AM »
Hi, I've recently acquired a 7600 which I'm looking forward to getting working.
Mac keeps coming up with communication error. Have installed correct driver, added printer in system preferences. Tried both bonjour and TCIP options that came up both with no prevail. Anyone had this and resolved or know where I'm going wrong.
Cheers, Scott

I run a OS X Sierra 10.12.3 and a Epson 7600.

No trouble printing through Accurip or using the Epson print driver.

Are you trying to connect to the printer wirelessly? If so I don't think the 7600 is capable, I'm almost certain that it has to be connected directly. I think if you connect locally via USB it should run okay for you.

Thanks, I'll try find a cord. It is connected with an Ethernet to Ethernet cable straight from printer to computer... perhaps this is my issue. It was the only connection cord that came with printer.

Well ethernet should certainly work, but the USB route will too. We always ran our 3800 as a shared printer with a USB cable, but our new T3270 is ethernet directly into the network, and both are working. It has to be some little setting somewhere, go for the USB cable first...

Is the Ethernet cable a standard cable or a crossover Ethernet cable?  A lot of newer devices will automatically correct for the wiring, but I'm guessing with the age of the 7600, that may not have been the case. Either way, a USB connection should do the trick.

Nope, standard ethernet, not crossover...

So I tried another cable rather than the Ethernet cable that was with it.
USB to printer (not sure what connection is called) worked sweet.
Have ordered some refillable cartridges from eBay. Going to order some cleaning fluid and bulk black in.
I should get standard dye ink as link https://continuousinksupplysystem.com.au/en/10043030-1-litre-black-dye-ink-for-epson-printers.html

Not the ultra chrome right? https://continuousinksupplysystem.com.au/en/10043331-light-black-ultra-chrome-compatible-ink.html

Will this head cleaner be suited to flush heads if needs be and then sit in other cartridges.
https://continuousinksupplysystem.com.au/en/10042100-moorim-120ml-cleaning-liquid-for-all-printer.html

If there is other suppliers (with tried and tested inks) you recommend and ship internationally I'd appreciate the advice.

Cheers

Glad to hear you got it running! It has been a very good printer for us.

I picked up a 7600 3 years ago for next to nothing. Magenta and yellow lines were full of hard ink. Black was semi clogged. I mixed up some cleaning solution and flushed the black lines using refillable carts and the epson with the "ink change" program. It flushes a massive amount of ink through, much more than a power cleaning.

That cleaning fluid would work fine i'm sure, but I make my own cleaning solution with distilled water, ammonia, and isopropyl alcohol.

Mix ammonia 1:9 with distilled water. Add two parts 91% iso alcohol and fill er up. Been running this for two years. No issues so far, but I haven't tried to print anything through the non black channels either. We have been running a roll of 17" film on this printer every 10 days or so.

For ink, you want dye based.

I use this, but I'm sure there are others that work just as well.
