Some guy is probably running a sea of Lawson Troopers and stacking money!

Wooooaaaaaiiiiiiitttt a minute, hyperbole threshold was maxed out, gotta pull the emergency brake and get this back under control. :)  I'd rather look for a unicorn than try and find that shop...all jokes people, there are a lot of good people in every company in our industry and I've had great conversations with the guys in the Lawson booths over the years.

I will try and get a pic up of this job and I tried to get video of it but customer declined to let us give them free PR but we just ran a 500 piece, 7 color sim process on white (yes, freaking WHITE shirts, WHITE!!!!) at 836 pieces per hour.  It's the perfect job to show off how all the little things can add up to do amazing things like this.  I even double stroked the yellow to get us closer to the color on the proof and still managed to print that fast.  One thing that bothers me about some presses is if you're double stroking you have to work your flash so that you're not waiting and the G3 isn't the only press that can do this but the flash will run at whatever you need it to even if you were triple stroking.  With the RPM you have to set the flashes to multiple cycles and that can cause some slow down.  The DX flashes are really one of the strongest parts of the press.  They have so much control over what you're doing and it's really hard to burn something.  I don't think we've scorched anything on the G3 yet, and that's a great accomplishment because they are so powerful.

I've got lots more to discuss but we're busy again, and I'd like to remind everyone that might think I'm being critical of something else, 2 THINGS CAN BE TRUE (OR GOOD/GREAT) AT THE SAME TIME.  Just because I'm gushing about a certain feature of the G3 doesn't mean another press can't do the same thing, or hell, do it better in some cases.  But I think this press is going to go down in M&R history and take a place in people's hearts in an even bigger way than the Gauntlet II did for so many over the years.  It's such a solid press and so many shops will make their way in the industry on the back of the G3.

I have a G3 16/18 about 2 months old now and I'm having the most trouble with the revolver. You have to keep your flash time high so that on the start up round, and if you ever skip a pallet, the flash will actually flash the ink. We have 3 dx's on it and it won't flash until there is a shirt under it. I've only run 2 jobs in revolver on it since having it, but that part kinda drives me crazy. The only work around is to have someone run around and press the test button at the pallet before the shirt gets there.

This defeats the preheat premise like on our two sportsmans.

Why in the world would you be running revolver mode on a 16 color press?  Just curious?  We have a 14 color CH3D and its NEVER necessary for us!  Again, just curious.

Just 2 10 color jobs with everything touching and yellows that want to bleed and highlight whites. Designs like badges are the worst.  We run sim process daily without revolver, but when you need it, you need it. It saves us from sooo many revolver jobs on our 10 color, even with 2 flashes on the 10 color. I love it so far. The flashes are about my only issues with the press, and mostly only in revolver.

I run revolver every once in a while but run the regular flash mode because it's so simple.  I set the temp I want the flashes to shut off at, but control the time on the main control panel as I run.  I'll never scorch a shirt this way, and the press won't index until the timer counts down but the flash isn't on the whole time.  It's kind of like using the best of both types of flashes in my opinion.  I'll start at 5 seconds then within 50 shirts I'll be around 2.5-3.  The flashes run every index no matter if there is a shirt on a pallet or not.  I don't use the DX flashes fully yet because I haven't tried to but I run our flashes as regular quartz and the main features I like about them still work, mainly the temp setting.

When you run the DX controls there are things that you have to have set correctly and I wonder if there is something you're overlooking or if the software is made to run that way.  It's always good for the flashes to cycle even if you miss a shirt or are starting a print run, I can't think of a reason not to let them run so I doubt M&R did that on purpose.  Makes me think some setting isn't right.

Which flashes did you go with?

Red Chili DX.  You can run them as regular quartz flashes or use all the features, or like we do and use a little of both.

We have only run them as DX so far. How do you run them as regular flashes?

So on the DX flash, does it automatically adjust the temperature based on the temperature of the garment after the pallets heat up?

The DX does not adjust the temperature. The sensor is set for the temp you want to get to and will turn off when you get to that temp. As the pallets warm up the set temp gets there faster so the flash will turn off sooner
