The Tech more than likely has or should have set the computer up to NOT auto update. There are updates that seem harmless and typically are, but can sometimes, toss in a wrench. Once, I had a customer that had Adobe Distiller do an auto update that the RIP didn't play well with. Deleted the update,and all was fine. Alex Wisniewski is your best contact for how to best set the PC up after the install (for any changes you might want to make to the pc and how that might affect the programs
if at all). Not to be confused with Alex Mammoser. Two very different guys. When someone gives you a technical answer, they are getting it from Wisniewski.
I've had plenty of customers install and run malware programs in the background that had not affected anything. Just make sure to turn them off when updating any programs. For the most part, most screen room's don't get access to the outside internet. How the shops set that up, You'd have to ask and IT person or one of the PC tech savvy members on here. You really just need a network system setup unless you are sending files via a google drive, dropbox or something and that's not as efficient as a network transfer.
