I see a lot of these being purchased lately
« on: January 10, 2017, 05:20:30 PM »
I just got my Single head delivered today and the 8 head just before Christmas. I'm glad to see so many people buying Barudans lately. I had Barudans in the past and then switched to Tajima for only a year. I sold those and decided to buy both of these brand new. I'm loving them again!

4-6 is only a 6k difference. 6-8 is almost 15k more. We went with 8 because of the types of jobs we do with only 1 operator. 12 heads require 2, and a 6 head isn't enough. We do lots of 10-15k stitch jobs and it is rally comes down to time. I'll add a 6 head and another single or two in the next 12 months probably.

Depends on the mix, in my shop they make no sense. But Barudan is the ticket for sure regardless of size!

We're semi-desperate for a single head for test sew-outs, names, and numbers. If you don't do those things very often then you wouldn't need one.

We do names often, but we also have 5 machines, people forget that. I don't have a problem tying up a 2 or 4 head now and then for names. The great thing about having another multihead rather than a single head is when your doing those long runs that you can fill it up and use it to make those jobs go faster, you can't make a single head go faster. Its 1 at a time.

Agreed if we had 5 machines, tying up a 2 or 4 head is no biggie.

What made all of you guys pick Barudan over Tajima? I am trying to decide this next week between the two and they seem fairly close. Any little bit can help me out at this point. I am looking at a 6 head, but I also have thought about a getting a 6 and a single head. We will focus mainly on caps with some flats (polos mainly). I have seen Richardson Cap, Outdoor Cap switching over to using Barudan. I see Pacific Headwear using Tajima, while  New Era has always been Barudan. I will start my own topic, but I thought I would ask here first.

Barudan is a heavier built machine, more money than a Tajima, but for us local tech support made the difference. No regrets so far, but I know Tajima makes a good machine too, if tech support had been equal, we may have gone that way.

When I toured Antigua in Phoenix a few years back they had over 250 heads of Barudan equipment...Sort of sends a powerful message....

I just got my Barudan 6 head on Friday. Tajima wasn't a thought for me, but I heard they're actually more than what I got mine for. Out off all the machines I priced (ZSK and Happy) Barudan was the most affordable. I'd have never thought that going in.

For us, Barudan is quoting for less money than a Tajima or ZSK. Tajima no longer posts the weight of their machines on their website so I can't readily find the information.  Support is one those things that usually clinches a deal for me too. I will be getting good service whether it is Barudan, Tajima or ZSK. So far, Barudan leads on the money front.

When I toured Antigua in Phoenix a few years back they had over 250 heads of Barudan equipment...Sort of sends a powerful message....

They have more now. https://www.antigua.com/page.php?sec=A&id=11 I also saw that Richardson Cap switched from Tajima to Barudan and Outdoor Cap is currently switching over. While New Era was always Barudan. There have to be some super large Tajima shops that aren't common knowledge though.

I just got my Barudan 6 head on Friday. Tajima wasn't a thought for me, but I heard they're actually more than what I got mine for. Out off all the machines I priced (ZSK and Happy) Barudan was the most affordable. I'd have never thought that going in.

Pricing has been similar in my case also. I think one factor in better pricing might be because Barudan is one of the only manufacturers who sells direct to the consumer, e.g., Tajima is sold through Hirsch where I am at.

I have toured shops using ZSK, Tajima, and Barudan and they all loved the machines they got. They were all real large contractors for big name manufacturers and national retailers. This week I am focusing on trying to actually operate each machine to see first hand how easy they are to use. We are trying really hard to make a decision this week on a 6 head. Barudan is pulling ahead but I need to put my hands on it to be sure. Thanks for the replies.
