Make Or Break Time.
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:05:44 PM »
I just got let go from my day job today. In a way I feel good in that I can concentrate on the business but on the other hand nervouse because I have a wife and 2 kids who depend on me. I have about a 4 month cushion to get it going before things start looking ugly but I believe God will put work in my path and not leave us hungry. Please keep us in your prayers as my family makes this transition, thanks guys.

Good luck!!!  I hope all will work out but like you said this may be the push you needed to put everything into your business.   Just keep pushing!

Seen several posts over the last few years from people just like you where being let go was the push that got them going and they had no regrets.  Hopefully you will be added to that list.

Just keep moving forward and don't look back.

However, be sure and immediately apply for any unemployment benefits to help out.

Prayers are nice, but keep rowing the boat. Best wishes to you and your family.

Gerry this might sound mean to say, but when need more gets you, you'll go to work and make that business pop,  my boss many years ago told me Darryl if your going to get that business off the ground you need to leave here and get your feet and body wet...I did and love it 11 years later...Dan is one guy that can really tell you how it was look at that cat now...he is doing great for himself and no dought getting better.  Good luck

A little late, but as a few others have said, getting laid off from my full time job in a screen print shop is what let my business take off. I was finally here to answer the phone, and really concentrate on running a business instead of just a "deal on the side". Some of us need that nudge.
And, compared to many in the same boat, you have a leg up with another business and livelihood in the wings rarin' to go.

Get scared...then get pissed...then put your head down and work your ass off every hour you can. You now have a business not a 40 hour a week Job. I was layed off from 4 large companies before I was 26. I figured it was a sign. I have not worked for someone for many years. My advice to you is stay off this forum and get to work. It takes time to get a business going. Screen Printing is harder than some businesses. You can do it just make a plan and work that plan every day. Don't ever put off looking for more work because you have enough work. Looking for work should be a daily task. Good luck.

My brother in law got fired about 2 years ago.  Best thing that ever happened to him.  He started his own landscaping company...after leaving one of the largest in the nation.  He works a lot, and they've been really working at building it.  They've done a good job so far.

Good luck and work hard.
