Xbox 1 is what my son in college has and just about all his buddies, I don't fool with games so either one I think the kids would love, maybe the Xbox is cheaper for online use which I think tons of kids use it.
Life is like Kool-Aid, gotta add sugar/hardwork to make it sweet!!

Didn't even consider the online thing, don't think I'd let my son play like that.

PS4 needs playstation live and Xbox needs Xbox Live for any and all online play.   The cost difference between the two is negligible.

I think both are fantastic depending on platform exclusive games you want.

My first question would be - what games are your favorites?

p.s.  started playing minecraft wayyyy back in Alpha.  Such a fun game.

Since you have had so many consoles crap out - are you giving them enough room to breath/cool down and are you cleaning the vents?

I have a PS4 here and I am realllly looking forward to the new Nintendo system when it launches next year!

I still have my ps1, ps2 and a PS3 all working fine. What kind of environment are they in.. keep em cool, clean and in a smoke free environment.

Cig smoke destroys electronics like you won't believe.

I would say sports games and mine craft mainly. My older systems were abused pretty badly but the ps3 was kept up pretty well and still capped out.

My PS3 has been on since the last power outage. I just leave it on so it keeps itself up to date as its a PIA to turn it on to play and have to wait 20 mins for updates.

I've also got some machines in my minecraft world that when I go afk and let my mob farms grind away.

As far as minecraft goes I have 2 private PC servers.

It's also going to be the first game that is cross platform compatible so everyone can play together no matter the device or network.

I run and own several Minecraft servers. Been involved with MC since release, mostly behind the scenes stuff like developing mini games, map building etc. Our network is pretty large with members that code all day to hardcore players. I have had the pleasure of playing with some of the most well known MC Youtubers in the past, from groups like Mindcrack and Hermitcraft, Even shot the crap with Dinnerbone (Nathan Adams). Lately tho me and most of the group have been heavily involved with ARK Survival. Done some projects with Mazion from Hermitcraft that have been successful for youtube.

You just shot wayyyyy up on my cool people list. MC is hands down the best game to ever hit the market and I encourage my son to play often. He's a huge creative player while I'm a survival player.

I've gotten into Buildcraft lately with Tinkers tools.. waiting for them to port to 1.10 as 1.8.9 has that horrible tick skipping issues.

My son got me into the YT videos and my current favorite tuber is Skippy 6 gaming.

Gotta put in my vote for the PS4.
If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

My kids got already a PS 4, now I  might just get myself a Xbox One S. Just checked for Blackfriday deals, GameStop got some good bundle deals. $249 for either a PS 4 or a XBox One S including games and an extra controller .
And after that the wait for the drop of "Red Dead Redamption 2" beginns.
