Lets talk gram scales....
« on: October 11, 2016, 11:20:12 PM »
I have had 2 scales go out on me in the last few years, they are the Sartorious brand that go up to 1500g. Not the best but I paid over $200 and they have crapped out rather quickly.
Would like to get a good scale that measures to the .00 and won't break the bank. Just got a quote from GSG for a good scale price tag is about $1,400!! I'll pull the trigger if that is the cost of a quality scale
but I thought I'd check with you guys first.

As always thanks in advance for your time and info.

Mike

I have had a lot of scales over the years and they all seem to give out at some point. so I went to Walmart and picked this scale of over a year ago. Ozeri Touch II Digital Kitchen Scale. we use it a couple times a week and still going good.

BP, looking at the description, that scale only reads in 1 gram increments.

Is yours different?

We have an old (25 years at least) Mettler, works great. We were able to pick it up with a load of inks from someone shutting down their plant, no idea on the price, that was way back. In fact, it might have been free for taking the inks off their hands. But, the question was about durability, and it has weighed out a bazillion colors and still is dead on.

I know that I am still using an A&D scale that is 15-20 years old, and even survived being tossed out of the shop into a debris pile
as the fire guys were cleaning up from my fire!
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

We use a MyWeigh M01, which has worked out well for us without breaking the bank.  Had to replace it once after about 5 years of use but it was due to discharge ink getting inside the scale over time, but that was our own fault.  We cover the new one in saran wrap and haven't had an issue since.  Its a 1000g scale.

We have this cheapo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012LJWTG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's worked great for us for mixing small batch.  It goes up to 1,000g.
