Legit or not?
« on: October 08, 2016, 09:47:16 AM »
Besides a google search of websites how do you some of you techies check to see if it's legit?  Here is the situation.  I need an epson 7900 printhead and so far there are 2 sources I know of.  One is here in the US for $2900.00 "a thousand less then the whole printer when it was being sold" and the other is questionable to me being almost too good to be true.  The one in question is wercan.com .  It's over seas for one and two it's a little over $1400 cheaper.

I've googled the site and get no bad reviews but the site is low in popularity.  I don't want to throw $1500 away, I'd rather give it to charity instead.

Has anyone here had any experience with wercan?  If not, how would you check them out other then google?

I don't doubt that they are a legitimate website as they even have an Amazon store, but rather if the part is OEM (if that could be an issue)
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

This is why you always pay for anything you order online with a credit card (not a bank debit card). You don't receive the product, it's not the correct product, it doesn't work, etc. If they company won't make good on it call the credit card company and dispute the charge. They offer a tremendous amount of protection.

That's my plan if I decide to go with that outfit.

Exactly. PayPal and your bank (debit card) will do almost nothing for you. Your credit card company will make sure you have nothing to worry about. They make it tough on the merchant even when it's a valid transaction if it's disputed.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the name of the company?  I purchased mine from wercan for like $1492 but just in case it's a sham I'd like to have an alternative.

I have a 7900 that has been sitting collecting dust. It had all black ink in it and the head is clogged. I don't want anything for it. if someone wants it for parts, you would have to arrange to pick it up or for crating and shipping.

I'll pm you the info. Apparently certified EPSON places can't sell the print head to end users, they need to physically install it. The guy was finally OK with selling it to me once I sent him a pic of what it went in.

lol, I could just see his expression when he opened the pic.  We better stock those jokers because once you can't get your hands on one, the only thing this monstrosity will be good for is a slide at a playground with alot of smoothing or a giant barge anchor.  Thanks for the info.

I check Tempest(sp?) To search all the Craigslists around. Last week there was maybe like 6 up for sale. I want to say out east and maybe south east? Either way if you can pick one up for $500 you got a bunch of backup parts!

I'll take it.  Do I need to contact sales or can you tell them and have them contact me?

I was going to say, these pop up pretty often on craigslist for under $500 and usually just need a little TLC to be good as new.
