tips for rapid tag users?
« on: July 11, 2016, 12:00:51 PM »
We have a rapid tag press that's just collecting dust, as we've really grown to like how the heat pressed tags look over the direct printed tags. But as our tag load increases (we are tagging on average 300-500 tees a day), i want to get that rapid tag working a little better.

So for those of you that use the rapid tag, how are you getting opaque prints, that aren't bleeding through?

We just have an LP1, so it's the most basic of presses.

It ain't happening on that machine.... At least that is what we have found and from talking to other users.  :(

If your goal is to get the RapidTag print to look close to a transfer, that's highly unlikely.
We use our RapidTag everyday and love it for what it does; printing inside tags.
It took us a while to fine tune the settings and speed/pressure, but we have been happy with it.
My advice would be to tinker with the settings and your inks.

i get that it'll never look like a transfer, but we could never get super clean prints that we felt looked good. They always looked very transparent, and no where near as good as the transfers.

I have been pad printing my tags. I LOVE it. They are sharp and do not bleed through. They are not as "bright" as transfers but we are running 300+ and hour and right in to the box, no dryer. I have also talked pretty all of customers that want tags to use the same gray ink. It works on everything but gray shirts.

Whats the washability of the pad prints?

Brand of ink?

We do 10K neck labels a month and I have a pad printer collecting dust...

I have used several inks. There is one I get from inkcups.com. It is a 2 part. I have left in the washing machine at home for 12 straight washes. It has held very well. I use maribu also. I have had great results with both.
