puting old belt on old dryer - zipper wire?
« on: May 23, 2016, 03:57:20 PM »
what is it? where do you get it?
someone said piano wire?

my (new to me) old dryer came with an old belt and zipper and wire. But it was already in 2 pieces of wire before getting to me. now it's in 3 and very very not smooth from years of use. 2 local hardware stores only have much-too-flexy spool wire. where do you get new wire???

We were short a wire when installing our split belt and used a piece of welding rod that we had at the shop.   Worked for us. :o

Also, whatever you end up getting, put it in a drill chuck and spin away.  Makes things a helluva lot easier.

Some hardware shops sell piano wire, but I'm not sure how long is common. I also used to get it from hobby shops as we made landing gear for airplanes with it.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?
