Fair price for used roller frames?

What is a fair price for a 23 x 31 used newman frame?  I have found some for $28 each and am not sure if that is a good price

depends on type, condition, how clean they are and if they're metal ends or not..

if they're M3, clean and have metal end caps and in good shape, that's a decent price depending on the quantity.

personally I wouldn't bother with MZX, and even though we have a bunch of the plastic end cap ones, I wouldn't buy any of the plastic ones.

I would think that $28 is good if the frames are in very good condition. Ink and glue are not the issue, but make sure the rollers turn smoothly and that the channels are smooth. At some point the work needed to fix them becomes more expensive than to buy new. . .

Yep, if they're clean and the channels are good, I'd grab that deal if I were looking for some.

IMHO the frame profile doesn't much matter if you're like most printers doing 20-35N screens...

I actually think for an all S-Mesh shop that MZX are better than M3.  The only reason to go M3 is if you are going after really high tension.  We started with only M3s but when we switched to all S-Mesh we sold the M3s and now only use MZX as there is no need for the beefier, heavier M3 frames.

somebody told me that the MZX do not support MHM pins. . . just putting this out there for anybody with en MHM.

I would agree but M3 is all we've ever used so I don't really know.  It would be nice to be able to grab more frames with one hand and less fatigue.  What about 25x36 mzx, too big for the thinner frame to support that size without racking?

On the original topic, we'll pay higher dollar for used M3 frames that simply need cleaned, i.e. have perfect channels and aren't galled up on the corners.  Anything worse in condition, as mentioned, just go new.  Not worth the labor to fix up and clean up typically.

   Well I have no idea the quality or condition.  It is a craigslist ad, that is $28 per shipped as well which is nice.  I suppose I will go ahead and get them, just missed an even better deal though on digitsmith i wish i would have seen in time.  Does anyone have an extra stretch assembly table or the shur loc stretching pieces they might want to sell?

rollers come up on the used market pretty regularly. Don't jump into something you might regret! See about getting a sample. Also, I think new MZX frames are $59 or so. At 28 for used, I don't know if that's a good deal.

what kind of mesh are you planning on putting in these 'S'/thin thread?  or standard thread?

That will also play into the MZX vs M3 discussion.

I look at newman frames as an investment and while they are heavier than MZX frames, I think that will likely add to more life for them, as well as open my options when we do specialty meshes that need higher tensions.

Can't really comment on the 25x36 because we only have those in M3.  Bought them new a few years ago and have used them once.  I would think tensioning in the high 20s could cause some flex on a 25x36 mzx, but that is a guess.
