Sign Tables?
« on: December 18, 2015, 11:25:20 AM »
I've been doing more and more jobs that would benefit from have a legit sign table for cutting and tape application etc.  Something like this: https://www.speedpress.com/ProdImages/t44082-f.jpg

Now, I'm not going to spend $800 bucks plus freight for something I can build for $100 or less and customize to my needs etc, but I do really want the soft plastic top all of these have.  Any ideas on what material it is, or where to source it?  I've basically been laying down cardboard for cutting, but want something more permanent.  Thanks!

we have a 4'x20' table made with a melamine top covered with a self healing cutting mat. It was about 500.00 I think. Check with Fellors, I think that's where we get it.
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

On a DIY table, how about linoleum? Should be available cheaper if someone sells end-of-roll remnants.
Won't hold up like the real stuff, but may work as a cheapskate substitute.

Thanks for the responses.  That's an interesting idea Frog, and I may try that first depending on my overall budget.

It looks like I can find a few options for $100-150 shipped, or a little more with the grid included.  I will probably go that route in the end and build the base to fit my storage needs etc.

I have a 5x10' table with a cutting mat on it.
I believe I paid around $200 shipped from Fellers

I'll talk to them again, but that wasn't close to what I was told for a 4x8 for just the mat and it had like a 3 week lead time because they just order it from the manufacturer.
