unrealistic expectations of WB black on white tees?

Tinkering around with the WB and DC inks. Today I tried some black ink on white Gildan 2000 Tees.  I was expecting the black to be opaque and bright.  Looked almost grayish to me, almost like dye migration from poly tees into plastisol.  Using CCI inks with 90/10 pigment ratio.  I have ordered some Green galaxy HSA that I will be trying when it arrives, just wondering if i am doing something wrong or if this is as good as it gets with WB.  Two strokes, no flash in between.

Proper WB black is the blackest of all blacks.

Up your pigment load if you can, or better yet, try a premix black.

I mix mine at 10% Rutland WB Pigment into base.  Really nice and black.

CCI has weaker pigments so you will need to go higher on the pigment load if you mix your own.

If you ever print WB inks and they look faded at all, your pigment load is to low.

I ran a big job (for us...) with Matsui Spot Black. I decided to try it because of what Tom wrote a long time ago, and decided to use it on this particular job because of what Jason Vanick said. So a positive shout out to both you guys.

This run was 2,000 fronts and 2,000 backs with a mostly black image on both sides. Repeated washing produces the most durable black image we've printed to date, bar none. I've not yet seen any fibrillation and I throw a test piece in the washer everytime I think about it.

IT. IS. BLACK.

I used to mix my own black WB from base and pigments, and I just THOUGHT it was black, until I started using the Matsui Spot Black. We bought a fiver from Kevin @ River City. We used the Fixer N and Printgen MG (whatever the new name is , I forget) both at 3% by weight and wouldn't change a single thing for cotton.

Did I mention, it prints really, really black?!?

Very black indeed. Did anyone notice that the author says "People think black is the absence of light, but I disagree, because we have never seen a black hole, so we've never seen real black." Pardon me, but doesn't the black hole absorb all the light, so that the is "an absence of light?"

We use the CCI spot black every day and it is as black as any of the waterbase inks come.  It works great for us.  Out of all the blacks we tested it was the blackest.  GG is also nice and soft but not as black as CCI.

We did try to make this as black as we could and we compared to several other manufactures for color and wash fastness during development. The CMS black is really best used as a mixing black.

This.  I have never even tried mixing a black WB ink...it would cost more than just buying the premixed stuff.  If you want some kind of dark gray, sure, but jet black, no reason to mix it.

Out of all the WB blacks we have used/tried(you name it) we keep coming back to the Matsui 301 RC black. Which is kind of odd, it is the only ink we use from them.

Thanks all, I just thought I would give WB and discharge a try, all the CCI CMS stuff came in but not the GG HSA.  Looking forward to getting those in to do some testing.  Ill def have to order some Matsui based off all the recommendations and probably a bit of the CCI Spot black for comparison.
