good ole color matching with discharge

Normally not an issue when starting from scratch, but 3 years ago we did a job and at the time used Matsui's pigments, and anyone making a nice solid red with those pigments would know how you have to really load and manipulate. Well now we use the CCI pigments and after 7 or so trial mixes. We can't get this red, nor the opacity that the mix from 3 years ago had. Aside from order matsui pigments for one job, anyone have any tricks they've come up with. Here's a sample. The text print on the bottom is what we are trying to match, the top is pms 199 which didn't really come out exact to the pantone chart, but you know how that goes, this was using the 5% boost mix as well.

Just from looking at the photo, I'd try less activator and boost the Rubine in the formula.

What percent pigmentation for either color currently?  I know CCI pigments are weaker than most....

I think the text, which was the Matsui was 8%. The cci, is what ever the software recipe called for I think ruined was up around 11, and yellow was around 4, something like that.

This! And 3% activator. I just started switching over to sericol and can't believe how awesome it is.

Deep deep color, as far as opacity?

Yup. I've only used it now for a few runs, but great results straight out of the bucket. Very solid color. And washes great too. I've read some other people modify it, but I haven't experimented with it that way yet.

You could try the new Boost pigment set we have, its very strong and gives a deep red in the prints we've done. As mentioned, with reds, always use the lowest amount of powder that you can.
We also have the new T-Charge discharge inks which are ready to go out of the bucket, other than adding the discharge powder. We also made these highly pigmented. 14 colors available

Well, I couldn't wait for the out of town delivery of any of the new CCI stuff and had to get this order done and out so the Sericol TexCharge Red-Blueshade was available local. It's reaaaaaaaaally nice. Very opaque, super awesome wet on wet print. I think we should have gone with the Red-YellowShade to make the closer match to the previous print, but the Red-Blueshade was actually dead on to the customers official logo color. If we did more discharge printing, say daily like we used to, I would consider going with Sericol as our colors. 3% activator for a full deep discharge. I like it, only thing I didn't like was $71 for 1 gallon. Kinda sucks for an ink that has so much waste in an order. But, I'm sure if we did it as our main printing we would be able to come up with a way to know our mix amounts more accurate. I, for now, rather have a little extra than be short in a run. Anyways, figured I'd update. Also, low stink factor compared to other discharge inks out there. CCI has a low stink factor too, the only thing with CCI, color matching is that the prints never seem to be as opaque as what this ready for use color was, and I've hear this now from several printers who have used both, or use both. Either way, both great products, CCI still has my vote for a problem free white discharge for sure, but the Sericol RFU is pretty awesome. Thanks Diggler for the hint off!

yeah its nice, CCI FOX red is good too, and Gary is my friend, but I have to say Sericol is better.
