isn't it awesome when you lose a customer to this...

Could have been worse... like the Yuda.

My wife keeps bitching that anyone can screen print it's too easy and I need to learn a harder trade so things like this wouldnt happen. LOL I'm sure most of us have heard that one... "any dummy can print a tee" I guess that has some truth to it.

Makes me think about my younger and wilder days when I occasionally drove too fast, and sometimes another car was involved as well.

Point is, more than once my little bench top non-micro four color Cortina finished in front of the Antec Legend or R Jennings six color beauty Corvette on the right road.

No, that press ain't no commercial quality press, and would give some poor struggling schmucks fits, but it actually looks usable, and in the right hands might give you a run for your money. It would have to fit well in the registration gates, and one would have to have mastered the use of the fine adjustment tool (hammer or mallet)
But no, I wouldn't steer newbies towards it.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Sometimes I wonder why manufactures of hobby (a very kind description) just don't ramp up and sell good presses. They have the manufacturing facilities or sources already?

OR

Why doesn't a group of screen printers form to become the next great press manufacturer?

Price point. The same reason that some buy entry level presses rather than commercial quality. Folks want cheap.

Cut my teeth on a crappy chappy. When you locked the micros it had a nasty habit of pulling right....did not take me long to aim left.

On our retail clients we actually encourage it when they say things like "how hard can it be? looks easy!" They ask where to purchase a package and we direct them to several sources. And of course warn them of the learning curve and the amount of time it will take. But of course no one listens. Over the years not one has actually ever stuck with it after spending hundreds or a couple of thousands of dollars. They always come back with words of appreciation for what we offer. And they have somewhat of an understanding of the process and usually become pretty darn good clients after that.

I was gonna say.. what'd you do.. drive to Ft. Worth ISS and take a trip to the Ryo booth and buy the large headache package.  ;D

Hey, I've snaked a few clients with even less... granted I was hating it all as you all probably remember. :)

I don't know who the person was that was doing their work before but they were getting it done somewhere else.

say what you want about ryonet but there the ones doing 27 million in sales. and its a choice to buy their equipment. with a package like in the photo that guy is no competition for any of us. there is a market and demand for that stuff.  :)

There are also those out there who see this as a mere stepping stone, know their present market and limitations, and, if they have plans to grow,  buy something better with the money they can make with even a simple rig like this.
Hell, half of the jobs I do are one color, and half of them are dark on light.

I actually bought that package a couple years ago to learn the basics. It is still in my shop and I put my 1 color stuff that I design on there that I sell a shirt from every now and then. Actually works well besides the no micro thing.
